ument unveiling ceremony on May 25.
Th* Borglum equestrian alatue, pro
nounced by members of the family and
competent critics as a perfect likeness
of General Gordon, reached Atlanta
early this week, and will be held until
th* contractors have completed work
on the pedestal.
It la expected that thousands of vis
itors will come to Atlanta for the un-
veiling ceremony. Distinguished Con
federates and public men frqm all over
th* South, Including all of the Southern
governbre, have been Invited, and many
hava already signified acceptance.

the grip from L. C. Munn. of Now York
city. Mr. Munn had been stopping at
the Lanier Hotel, and wna Having th*
city on an early train for Columbia.
He sent hi* grip to tho d«pot by a por
ter. and while tho negro porter was
loading eome trunks on th* wagon,
Jones, It I* »lleg*d, «tole th# grip,
which contained a number of article*
of clothing. When tho negro waa taken
to the police barrack* ho w«* wearing
two pair* Of pant* and a coat, the
property of Mr. Munn. Tbs grip bas
