Mrs. J. C. Melllchamp, wife of the
Whitehall street Jeweler, received In
formation Tuesday that her father's
barn and warehouse on hie plantation
near Clauexen, 8. C., was destroyed bj-
fire last Sunday night. The lire was
caused by lightning, which set Are to
the barn. Mrs. Melllchanip's father. Dr.

College Farm Report.
Hon. J. Conner, chairman of the
board of trustees of the Agricultural
College, submitted his report, which
covered the period since the establish
ment of the department.
In the course of hie report, Mr. Con
ner say*:
"After getting all the Information
possible through source* nhovclndl-
ented and otherwise, we directed the
architect. Mr. Dougherty, to draw pl«n*
und specifications for the building,
which ho did. nnd submitted them to
the board. These plans and specifica
tions for the building the board ap
proved nnd directed the architect to ob
tain from contractors bids for the con
struction of the building to accord fully
wltn these plans nnd specifications.

awarded the contract to h. B. Fitts «

at nnd for the sum of $94,600 The
building Is to be completed nnd turned

It was decided by the University
Alumni Society yesterday to build the
University Alumni Y. M. C. A. hall
to cost $100,000. Instead of $75,0000. as
had been planned.
Two years ago the Alumni 8oclety
resolved to Mevote Its $40,000 to this
purpose If the Y. M. C. A. people of
the state would raise $35,000 in two
years. The Y. M. C. A. people were
ready with their subscription and had
$6,500 more than was required of them
The fund amounting to $81,600. the so-
until the sum should reach $>00,000.
In the course of his report, 8tate
Secretary Rend, of the Y. M. C. A.,
said:
"The seven large cities of Georgia
are represented by subscriptions as fol
lows: Athens (including faculty). $5,-
662; Atlanta, $15,240; Augusta, $2,000;
Columbus. $1,690; Macon, $780; Rome,
$1,705: Savannah. $976."
After the rending of the report, Hon.
Clark Howell Introduced the following
resolution, which was adopted:
"Resolved. That the thanks of the
alumni, the trustees, the faculty and
the student body are due to the state
executive committee. Young Men’s
Christian Association of Georgia, for
the campaign which they have Just
closed for the.Y, M.-C. A. building for
the University of Georgia, resulting in
pledges of $41,650 for the purpose.” s

J. McMullan, of Hartwell, was pussed
unanimously:

Tho committee will get to work to
raise the remaining sum necessary to
curry the total to $100,000 und It Is be
lieved that the same wilt be raised
within the next few months, so that the
erection of the new hall may go right
ahead.

THUGS ATTACK MAN
IN SHADOW OF HOME
New York, June 19.—While walking
in his garden lost evening at hla home,
"The Roses," Joseph T. Rospnheimer,
a wealthy resident of Pelham and pres
ident of the London Needle Company,
was murdered Wy two men who sprang
from the bushes and attacked him with
a blunt Instrument, which the police
believe was a heavy, short-handled
sledge, such as is used in trimming
stdne.
Almost before Rosenheimer had time
lo cry out to his wife, who was only a
few feet away, his skull was crushed In.
Mrs. Rosenhelmer fainted and her ner
vous condition since has been such that
she has not been able to give a con
nected uccount of the murder.
