COTTON YARNS LESS ACTIVE
PRICES ARE FIRMLY HELD.
New York Commercial: Notwithstanding
reports of soft spots In the cotton ynru
market prices are being firmly maintained
all along tbc line, und up to the present
time no selling agent has been found will
ing to grunt concessions of nny sort lu
order to move certain counts which sre al
leged to have ncruiuulated. The demand
Is not ns active ns It was, ns both weavers
and knitters seem to have opvered their
future requirement* fairly well for the time
being, and are now nw*nltlng further de
velopments before taking on nny further
contract*.
Weavers, especially those representing
some of tho larger manufacturing concerns
throughout the country, who hnre been out
of the market for tho past week or so, are
now paying occasional visits to this mar
ket, apparently for the purpose of slxlng
up the situation and looking for any soft
spots that tuny develop. No transactions of
moment have been put through since the
week opened in the weaving yarn division
of the market, so it Is to be supposed that
the would-be buyers hare failed to find
prices which met with their approval.
Spinners nre now so wlel sold ahead that
they are not nt all desirous of taking oil
more business nt the present time, and
what with the difficulty that cotton yarn
agents nre experiencing in obtaining the
deliveries • wanted by buyers now In the
market, the actual amount of business
passing Is not large. Reports continue to
be circulated to the effect that supplies
of two-ply warns No. 80s nre beginning to
accumulate In this market, and that buyers
may Inter on be able to purchase nt more
advantageous prices.
Prominent sellers In the trade, however,
make light of these reports and state that
they would l»e glad to see accumulations of
some counts, and these accnmulntlons of
fered nt lower prices, as they would be
willing to cover offers of this sort If they
were uiudo.

WEATHER CONDITIONS.
Washington, July 12.—Weather conditions
and general forecast:
Showers will continue tonight In the mid
dle Atlantic states, and tonight and Sat
urday In th# South Atlantic anil cn»t Unit
states. In the Ohio valley and lower lake
region the weather will be fair toulght and
Saturday.
_t»lf coast light to
fresh and mostly southerly and on the
cifie ail show good #dv*m***s. 4.'«*pper metal
weak again at n decline of 15 |mlnts for
spots.
The ease In cnll money yesterday wns
rather surprising in view of the tieuvy losses
to the sub-treasury.
Tim market today will depeud on the
money situation. II call fates do not ad
vance then we can be reasonably sure that
the banks will make a far better sbowlug
than appears on the tmrince.
Nebraska reports a surprising yield of
wheat in the southern district.
We are Inclined to l*e conservative until
the actual state of money market Is made
known.
On bulges advise profit-taking and pur
chases on weak spots.
No special feature to the market. There
are no stocks pressing, and It looks as
though It was n pretty well liquidated mar
ket. We ought to have a rally ‘
points anyway, although the
purely professional.
Town Topics: With prospect* of a decid-
edly poor bank statement, th# high money
rates and the Harriumu report overhanging
the market. It Is too much to look few any
bui Ish morm of importance this wi^k. The
airline** on the deeliuca, however, shows
that stocks have been pretty firmly au-
chored around the existing levels and tienr-
Imi effortm will not avail to bring out anv
plentiful supply of long stock*. Th# revival
of old-tnu# rumors like the alleged financing
bv the Baltimore and I tending railroads,
which again received prompt denial, shows
that the benra are hard put to It to Invent
something tlwt will serve to shake confl-
dence of pre#eut holders. As a matter of
fact, the good stocks are. at their going
prtees, so Intritralcnlly cheap that the
gradual help of the actual Investment de
mand should forne np quotations bit by bit.
Next week we look for a resumption of th#
bullish manipulation uguiimt the short lu-
