Market Nervous.
Hair York. Oct. 28.—There was considera
ble excitement at the opening of the local
rottofi market this morning and the under
tone was weak with price* down 10 to 19
notnti. After the call tradera displayed
great nervousness, but the list was a little

LITTLE BUSINESS BOOKED.
The New York Commercial: The down
ward movement In the cotton yarn mar
ket -continue* In spite sf all efforts on
the part of spinners mid selling ngenrs to
stop It. Rumors of stocks accumulating in
other market* as well as this are being
used as n bear argument to force price*
still lower. Although the lowest flgurrt,
of the season are now being named, these
figure* do not seem to Interesr the buyer.
It Is pnrely and simply n dealers' market,
and just a* long as the dealer continues
to dump yarns on thn market, over and
above what ore called for. prices will
continue to decline all along the line. Val
ue* quoted In this market at the prek«nt
time can not be obtained from •matters,
or well-known selling Agent*, either for spot
or future delivery. If dealers were com
pelled to fill orders at the prices now In
force they cobid not meet their contracts,
a* the spinner* refuse boritlvely to meet
New York price*.
Offer* are being made to deliver yarns
at oven lower price* thnn those quoted In
the open marker. Some dealers are re
ported to be making offer* of 33s two ply

Chicago. Oct. 28.—The wheat market seem
ed rather uncertain at the start, opening fig
ures being from %c higher to %c lower.
Trader* seemed loath to commit themselves
to either side In view of the panicky condi
tions reported from Wall stret. Minneapo
lis and Duluth received 665 cars, against 484
last year.
Closing prices for the day showed
wheat X 1-602 l-4c higher, joorn up 3-8
01-2c higher, oats 1-4 off to l-4c up,
and provisions 22 1-2(M2 l-2c lower.

WEATHER CONDITIONS.
The pressure Is decidedly lower _ _

area that was in that scctlou yesterday
morning having moved out Into the Atlan
tic. The eastward drift of the high and
low areas has brought the center of lowest
pressure to Portland, Me., and the second
ary high area to Marquette. Mich. A slight
depression still covers California and an
other one la over southern Florida. Tula
uneven distribution of pressure ha* caused
cloudy weather over the cotton belt, the
Pacific slope nnd the lake region, with light
rainfall throughout most of the name terri
fy. The temperatures ore 10 to 2>> degrees
higher over the Ohio valley and New Eng
land. while from the Mississippi to the
Rookies they nro 4 to 10 degree* lower than
on yesterday morning. In other sections the
change* are unimportant.
Condition* favor continued fair weather
