world’s visible supply of cotton for the
week ending December 13, made up from
special ouble and telegraphic advices, com
pares the figures of thin week with last
veek, fast year and the year before.
It shows an Increase for the week Just
losed of 141,342, against an Increase of 135.«
371 Inst year, and an Increase of 126.324 year
re lust.
L e total visible Is 4.164,497. against 4,023.-
156 last week, 4.738.499 last year and 4.997,891
year before last. Of this the total of Amer
ican cotton Is 3.294,621, against 3.171.279 la*t
week, 3,848,499 last year and 4.006,891 year
before Inst, and of all other kinds, includ
ing Egypt. Itr:i7.il. India, etc., 869.876, com
pared with 851.S7G last week, 890,000 last

INQUIRY FOR COTTON YARNS
IS BECOMING STRONGER
At the time of the acute contraction In
tho money market, the buyers of cotton
goods asked curtailment of tnelr spring
orders nnd also asked for deferred delivery.
The. mill* and agents were opposed to al
lowing the buyers to cancel and came out
emphatically on this point. They were less
emnhatlc on the matter 6f delivery,
where It was rmstlble they let tho buyers
have an extension oo the delivery of goods.
It Is now stated by the first-hand factors
that their leniency has been taken advan
tage of and Imposed on and that some
check must be put on the granting of ex
tension*. Prominent sellers relate instances
of firms that havo goods due them on Jan
unry delivery, who are coolly nsklug to
have the merchandise withheld until May
or June. Tho atock from which the goods
were made has-been In tho band* of the
mills for months already, and farther
