SHOT NEIGHBOR’S SON
WHO SECURED HIS
RELEASE FROM JAIL

Lavonla, Ga.. Dec. 17.—'Tom Crump
ton, who has just been released from
Jail under a heavy bond; shot and prob
ably fatally wounded the oldest son of
C. V. Mahoney yesterday. It Is said that
Crumpton was drinking. About two
months ago. while acting aa police, he
phot and killed Joe Morrison, a negro,
and for this he was awaiting trial, and
by the preslstent effort* of Mahoney he
secured hi* release Friday. The par
ticulars of the shooting can not be ob
tained at present, but It I* learned that

Mallory Out of Race.
Washington. Dee, 17.—Commenting
upon the announced Intention of Sen
ator Mallory, of Florida, not to be a
candidate for re-election, E. E. Reese,
of Pensacola, now In Washington, said
that Senator Mallory suffered a stroke
of paralysis about two weeks ago, but
was recovering.
ODD FELLOWS OF SEVENTEENTH
TO MEET AT GAINESVILLE.
Gainesville, Ga., Dec. 17.—District
Deputy Grand Master W. B. Sloan, of
the Independent Order of Odd Fellows
of Georgia, has mailed out a letter to
the different lodget of the Seventeenth
dlvlelon celling the second meeting of
this division In Gainesville on January
17. 19')S. The division Is to meet with
Air Line lodge. No. (4, of this city.
The district deputy grand master
urges each lodge In the dlvlelon to send
delegatee. Each lodge la entitled to
twice ns many delegates as It has rep
resentatives In the grand lodge of Geor.

met at the court house In Gainesville
and elected the following officers:

keper, Gordon Thompson; lecturer, J.
N. Twltty. The Farmen’ Union In
Hall county has a large membership;
In tact. Hall Is one of the strongest
union counties In the state, and Its
membership Is , Increasing. President
Edwards and Secretary Smith were re
elected. The date of the county meet
ings were changed from the second
Thursday In each month to the second
Tuesday In each month.
