Gould, was alleged today by Mrs,
Gculd’a lawyer, Clarenba J. Sheam.
Mr. Shearn made an application be
fore Justice Qiegerlch in the supreme
court to have the alimony Gould lias
been payin* hla wife raised from $25.-
000 to $120,000 a year, pending the trial
of her suit for separation. He charges
that Mrs. Gould Is continually harassed
by spies and law suite inspired by her
husband and that she Is the victim of a
conspiracy to blacken her character
and prejudice her case.

Camping on an uninhabited island, a
mere bit of coral reef In the Pacific,
Mrs. W. K. Riddle, a daughter of Mr.
nnd Mrs. J. J. Russell, of Atlanta, is
walling for a ship to take her and her
companions off.
But that they are safe on any kind ot
land la enough to satisfy the castaways
of the Ill-fated Aeon. The steamship
Mnnnkua is due ut Fanning Island,
near their refuge, on Tuesday, and will
ick up the Involuntary marooners.
Mr. Russell has received a telegram
frem the steamship agent at San
Francisco that Mrs. Riddle Is safe with
the rest of the Aeon's passengers, the
ngent having received a cablegram to
that effect.
The Aeon left San Francisco on July
6 for Sydney, New South Wales, and
was long overdue. It Is now learned
that Inshore currents wrecked her on
Christmas Island, an atoll near the
equator. Captain Downle and a ship’s
crew succeeded In reaching Fanning
Irland. a cable station, in a small boat,
and sent out the first news of the
Aeon’s disaster.
