SENDS THEM ORANGES
For The Georgian's newsboys* Christ
mas three bpxes of Florida oranges
have come from their long-time friend.
A. K. Hawked, who is spending a part
of the winter In Florida. He writes
that he is sending the fruit to be dis
tributed among the newsies on Christ
mas day.
The newsboys have learned to expect
something from Mr. Hawkes every
Christmas and he has never disappoint
ed them. For years It has been his cus
tom to remember the newsies In some
way and they will appreciate his
thoughtfulness for them even when he
can not be In Atlanta to personally
supervise the distribution of his gifts.

FOLLOWING UNCLE’S DEATH
MILTON, Fla., Dec. 22.—As a re
sult of an Investigation of the murder
of Dave Adams, at his home at Holt’s,
conducted by Sheriff Mitchell, of Mil-
ton, Deputy Mann, Sheriff VanPelt, of
Pensacola, and Coroner Rhodes, W. K.
Adams, Jr., son of Kage Adams, ji
nephew of the murdered man, has been
arrested and lodged In Jail at Milton.
Dave Adams was feeding his oxen
near his home when shot to death.

An amendment to .increase the salary of
the second assistant to the city engineer
from $1,000 to $1,800 was lost. Also an
amendment to reduce the salary, of the
marshal from 12.400 to $2,000 and to Increase
the salary of the street Improvement col
lector from' $1,500 to $1,800.
The favorable report on the ordinance b;

physician system nnd establishing a system
with two city’physicians, working In con
junction with the health officer, nnd devot
ing their entire time to the city, did not
meet with .the appdoral of council," and

FIND SKELETONS
OF EXTINCT RACE
RENO, Nov., Dee. 22.—'The skeletons
>f three human beings, undoubtedly
belonging to a race long slnct extinct,
were brought to light In a cave uncov
ered In the convict stone quarry In the
Nevada state prison, near Carson, yes-
tetday. The remains arc well preserved.
The skulls are unlike any yet seen
and were Indicative of a race of much
less Intelligence than the Indian. The
teeth are peculiar. In that the inclsore
are about half an Inch longer than the
other teeth In the skulls. Students
claim that this would Indicate a fero
cious people.

temporary Injunction granted by Judge

river, was formally dissolved by Judge
James L. Webb Saturday nfght at a
o'clock, after nn all-day hearing.
Chnee. Jones and Hugh McRae
Co. petitioned Judge Webb to make the
Injunction permanent. Seven or eight
prominent attorneys appeared In the
case. The order of the court, however,
Is conditioned on the power company’s
furnishing a (7,000 bond to Indemnify
the petitioners against possible loes.
The strip of land Involved contains
about 120 acres, and Is so located that
Its use Is absolutely necessary for the
completion of the big power plant.

WESLEY MEMORIAL’S
CHRISTMAS PLANS
Rev. Frank Slier, the new paetor of
Wesley Memorial church, has been In
the city only three weeks,and there
hsve been acresstona to the church at
every service. There were sixty-four
more In the Sunday school last Sunday
than on the Sunday previous. It has
been the custom of the Sunday school
of the Wesley Memorial church to em
phasise at Christmas giving rather than
receiving on the part of the pupils, sl-
tho ths pupils are annually remembered.
This year It will be the plan for each
class to remember some one on Christ
mas day. The Phllathea class will hsve
s Christmas tree for a number of chil
dren who would otherwise have very
llltls on Christina.. The annual Sun
day school rntertnlnm»n: will lake place
next" Tuesday night. The program will
consist of music, reading and a candy
pulling for the children and young peo
ple.
The watch night meeting, which will
be held Thursday night. December II.
will be In the nature of an annual re
union of the members and friends ot
the church, and promises to he a very'

Next Sunday Is hospital dav In this
