OF CLASS TREE DAY
Oxford, Ga., Fab. 19.—The senior class
at Ktnory college Is considering chang

and have been attended only by the
student body. As the custom of hav
ing Arbor day or class tree day Is un
old one at Emory*, and as it has al
ways been held during the spring term,
some opposition will doubtless develop.

Indignation Meeting Held Fri
day Afternoon—Mass Meet
ing Monday Morning.
That the builders of Peachtree Hill
cemetery will meet with the most
strenuous opposition was definitely set
tied at an indignation mooting held Fri
day’ afternoon in the ofllce of John M
Slaton, In the Grant building, which
was attended by a large number of the
most prominent residents of Peachtree
st. and Peachtree road.
A mass meeting hns been called for
Monday morning at if o’clock In the
rooms of the Chamber of Commerce,
Every one interested in opposition to
the cemetery Is invited to attend.
The cemetery project was denounced
In no mild terms as a disgrace and a
nuisance.
It was also pointed out that since
the intention of the purchasers of the
Plaster property on Peachtree creek,
within 3«)0 feet of Peachtree road, had
become known the value of adjoining
and nearby property had depreciated
greatly in value; that pros|>eotivo buy
ers had refused to take over property
owing to Its proximity to a cemetery.
After discussing every phase of the
situation, as well as the various legal
aspects, the following officers were
elected: C. J. Haden, chairman; Louis
W. Thompson, vice chairman; Walter
P. Andrews, secretary, and* E. Elvers,
assistant secretary.
Tho chairman was instructed to ap
point committees to Investigate tho nu
merous dotails of the battle to be waged
and when the fight starts it is said the
array of legal talent which will oppose
the promoters will be tho most brilliant
ever assembled In tho state of Georgia
and that the case will bo carried to tho
highest courts of the land. If necessary,
was agreed to by all.
Among those present were C. J. Ha
den, E. L. Winn, L. B. Bratton, John
M. Collier (representing the other heirs
of the Wesley G. Collier estate), John
K. Ottley, Louis W. Thomas, J. R. Lit
tle, E. Rivers, V. A. Moore, Walter P.
Andrews and E. R. DuBosc. Numerous
others telephoned their regrets because
of their inability to attend, but prof
fered services and offered to do all in
their power In the fight to be waged.
The cemetery* company, which was
incorporated In the state of Georgia, is
called the American Hecuritles Com
pany of Georgia and the Incorporators
are George Huestls Fonde, Gregory’ M.
Luce and M. O. Dlscher, all of Mobile,
Ala.
The officers of the company are:
Charles B. Sims, president; John T.
Schley, vice president: Charles D. Wil
loughby*, secretary* and treasurer, all of

Sleepless Nights
“My wife is of a nervous tempera
ment, and has suffered much from
sleeplessness. Since using Or. Miles’
Nervine she has greatly improved
and now sleeps well.”
W. VV. FISH BACK, Redkey, Ind.
When the nerves become weak,
worn-out, excitable from over
work, worry, grief or mental ex
haustion, their turbulent condition
prevents that total relaxation that
induces sleep.

LIST OF CONTESTANTS
IN THE GEORGIAN’S $30,000 VOTING CONTEST
r-pHE FACT that we have extended the ten-day clubbing offer seems to have
A met with general approval from our contestants, and of this we are very
glad, as it has ever been our intention to lend every possible assistance to
those who are sufficiently interested in our wonderful proposition as to try, by
honest, earnest effort, to win the prizes offered. Our efforts to this end have
been appreciated by a very few—a statement which is proven by the list be
low—and toward this few we feel duly grateful. If the number of deserving
ones be small, it is certainly not our fault, for we have spared neither pains nor
space in advising those interested in the contest. Hardly a day has passed
that we have not had something to say to you, some.advice to give, suggestion
to make, all of which we intended should, and hoped would, further the inter
ests of your several candidacies. Special offers, extra inducements seem not
to have affected some of you at all, while others of you were quick to see the
opportunities held out to you and were a little quicker in grasping them. We
can only hope that the extension of the 50,000 vote offer on $22.50 clubs will
have the effect of encouraging you and that you will henceforth work with
more spirit, which can only mean better results.
