ANSWER.
I published a good article on the rare
and raising of turkeys by Mrs. Hinton
In Saturday's poultry supplement of
June 1.
1. Per the first feed, baker's bread
or egg bread soaked In aweet milk and
then aqueexed as dry ss you can makes
a moat excellent feed for the first three
or four feeds for young turkeys and
chickens. Peed a very little; take It
away from them In ten minutes.
2. Don't feed for at least ?4 hours
after they arw hatched. If the hen Is
satisfied and does not become restless,
let her stay on the neat for these !4
hours, or longer will not hurt.
1. Yea; heads greased with lard or
vaseline; don't ever use kerosene on
turkeys or chickens; It Is too penetrat
ing: causes weskness.
4. lice powder will not hurt them.
On the contrary, It will do them good
If they happen, to have any lire on
them.
1. You can feed the hen whole corn.
6. Peed five time* per day for the
first week; then reduce to four times
the second week and three times later
on.
7. After they are two weeks old you
can feed scratch feed, wheat or scalded
oats.
1. July is too hot and too late to
hatch either turkeys nr chickens In
confinement. I don’t advise trying to
raise turkeys on a city lot. You may
raise one or two, but you can't make
it pay.
*. Your feed for the hen I* nil light.
10. No; the gobbler will annoy the
ben and If like most gobblers will kill
the little onea.
