GREATEST PEACH
CROP EXPECTED
Central of Georgia Expects to
Move 3.240 Cars—Water
melons in Doubt.
SAVANNAH, GA., May 10 —All Indi
cations point to a banner peach crop in
Georgia this season. Careful estimates,
obtained from a canvass of all fruit
growers and a personal Hxaminatlon of
al! the largest orchards. Indicate that
there will be a movement of 3,240 cars
of the lus' ious fruit over the Central of
Georgia railway. After several weeks
of accurate figuring the freight traffic
department of the Central announces
that unless untoward circumstances
prevent the crop for this season will be
the largest on record
It is estimated that the first car of
peaches will move between May 25 and
June 1. The first car will very likely be
sent from the Fort Valley section. Fort
Valley and Marshallville are the two
principal peach growing swtfona of the
country TXiring June the Central ex
peers to handle 1.021 cars of peaches,
arxf 3,218 during July. If weather con
diftens improve it is likely that the
nwvement will be a groat deal heavier.
During the whole season the Central
grpoota to handle Bfi cars of canta
loupes TM» movement will be a small
one compared to the movement of pre
vions aeasona.
Tha conditions this season have been
MpecittUy favorable tn the peach crop
Preparations are being made to handle
the peach nwrvement expeditiously. It
la aanounred that the road will be In a
®e«JtJon to handle a movement of 4,000
gars without trouble.

WASHINGTON, May 10.—Seventy
six years old this week, rounding out
38 years in congress, the most hated,
best loved, most picturesque man in
official life in Washington, former
Speaker "Uncle Joe" Cannon, of Illi

"I feel all right—but I kinder wish
they wouldn't come around quite so
fast," he said simply. But so it goes.
It’s the ebb and flood of human life.
It has kept up for thousands of years,
and it will keep up to the end of time.
I'm not complaining. I have no fault

"I never enjoyed better health in my
life, and while 1 will set no time limit
on my work, I desire and I intend that
no man shall ever be able to say justly
of me that 1 encumber th* earth. I

just remember —I am not complaining.
"After some length of service as a
representative." he continued. "I would
not advise any citizen to choose what
is ordinarily railed a political life un
less he has a modest competency for
the support of himself and his family,
as well as a provision for old age."
