STRONG FOR SUFFRAGE MOVEMENT Writer of “To Have and to Hold,” and “The Long Roll,” took the Virginia delegation of Suffragettes to New York and led them up Fifth avenue in the big procession-Declared the Women are going to fight for the ballot BY MARY JOHNSTON, Os Alabama. “T think the siitTpa.ire parade was a very great success, and the result justifies the time, expense ami trouble involved. “It is just as though the whole movement. North, South, East and West, united once a year in getting out an admirable poster and placing it before half a million people. Half a mil lion see the original and millions read about it and see it re produced by the camera. “This special poster was admirable in design and execution. What it symbolizes is by far the most tremendous of all mod ern movement. It was an honor to be one of the figures in the poster. It is an honor to be associated with that movement. “This is in no sense a contest of sex against sex. It is a co-operative movement, the one lining up with the other in'the immemorial fight for human freedom. It is the spirit of democ racy marching on, and the goal is a better world and a better human type to dwell in that world. “The woman movement has many facets besides the politi cal one. But at the moment the political facet is the dominant one. The ballot is the weapon of civilization. It is necessary to the woman of the twentieth century, and she is going to tight for it until she wins it." ARMY ORDERS WASHINGTON, May 16. The fol lowing orders have been issued: Captain A. <'.
