May 18—Six weeks from now the young prince of Wales will be thought to have had enough of the temp taions Os the French capital, and all sorts of arrangements are being made here for his return. On June 23, the prince will reach his majority and will become the legal heir to the throne, entitled to reign in person should his father die. One of his first official acts will be to make his appear ance in the emasculated house of lords and work has actually begun on the par liamentary mantle he is to wear on that solemn occasion, the principal ornament of which will be five bars of ermine with gold lace to each. The queen will wit ness her oldest son s first appearance in the upper house, while slate etiquette forbids the presence of the king, whose feelings might be hurt by the official ceremony proving that he is no longer quite indispensable, a successor being ready to step into his place. The king, however, is busy dealing with the composition of the young prince’s household, which will be out on a new footing as soon as he becomes of age Soon to Enter College. Mr. Hansell, who is now with the prince in Paris, will accompany his royal high ness to his own alma mater, Magdalen college, when he is admitted a student of the University of Oxford at Michael mas. There is to be a governor, whn will deal with Hie more important mat ters, and will not undertake the minor duties of correspondence. The private secretary will he established for some time to come at Buckingham palace. Here all accounts will be kept, and his revenue from the duchy of Corn wall A tutor will he allowed to him at Magdalen, and ihe main duty of this professor v\ ill be to continue the prince’s studies in law and general history.
