ish government has been moved to a
serious effort in the matter of aero
planes. The news that the treasury has
authorized the purchase of 60 machines
and is prepared to increase the number
to 100 as soon as there are pilots
trained for the service will be read
throughout England with general sat
isfaction. It is the first practical proof
the authorities have given of their con
version to the urgent needs of the na
tion.
