FLAWS FOUND IN i EVEfIYSGHODL Inspector Hayes Says All the I Buildings He Has Visited Are j Seriously Defective. I .Mayor Winn and Chairman F. A. ' Quillian of the bond commission ended j their inspection of city school buildings | with a visit to the English Avenue ' ' school today. "The school Is in the best condition of any I have seen," said Mayor Winn. “There are several defects that will have to be improved, hut the general condition of the building is good, com pared with others.” Building Inspector Hayes, who is making the official examination, will visit the school today and note the de fects for his report to the bond com mission. He already has visited the Lee, Walker and Hill schools and an nounced today that each one is seri ously defective. “I have found defects In every school I have visited, and mme of them are very bad,” said Mr. Hayes. "I will be ready to report on those I have visited by Monday, if called on for a statement of their condition by the bond commission.” GEORGIATEACHERSWILL VISIT CUMBERLAND ISLAND i On June 20 the Georgia Teachers As sociation will meet at Cumberland Is land for the annual convention. GOES TO COURT AS WITNESS; LEAVES ROOM DEFENDANT Following a tilt between Recorder Pro Ten: Preston and Attorney John A. Boykin in police court, when the at torney refused to turn over to the court as evidence a promissory note for sl6, J. H. Smith, a merchant of 406 East Fair street, will face the court today for lending money without a license. Smith appeared as a witness in the case of W. F. Bentley, an alleged liquor seller, and when it developed that -he had loaned money to R. W. Swann, an other witness, Judge Preston ordered a case made against him, Bentley, for whom Smith testified, was bound over to the state courts In bond of SI,OOO on the charge of selling liquor. Swann was brought in from the stockade to testify against him. He previously had confessed that he and Bentley were in partnership.
