NEXT WEEK AT THE THEATERS
LILLIAN SHAW HOLDS
FORSYTH’S BILL NEXT WEEK
following the succession of hits re
corded within the last few weeks st the
Forsyth. evident ing the Influence Os the
management to secure that desirable
quality of entertainment that has kept
the popular theater busy, a bill will
open for a week’s engagement with
Monday matinee that promises to be
superior in comedy and quality to any
thing that has been offered In Atlanta
In .summer time. In assembling the
acts to constitue the program, particu
lar care was exercised to bring to At
lanta new faces a id stars who have
registered substantial hits that have
value at a box office. and those who
know predict that this has been accom
plished.
The feature of this select offering will
be Lillian Shaw. who is without excep
tion the most popular of all the com
ediennes who have yet visited Atlanta.
Tile clever vocal dialect artist has ap
neared here at least once each season
for the last four years, and she has
e< lipsed each former success in rapid
succession; it was announced a few
•lav v ago from New York that the en
tertainer after a season of 40 weeks,
most of which has been spent In New
York, would rest all the summer, but
he personal desire to come to Atlanta,
coupled v. ith ar. unusual inducement,
drew her signature to a contract for
the week that commences Monday.
Though sue has always been classed as
the premiere vocal dialect comedienne
of the theatrical profession, the critics
hav p’oc'almod her the queen of all
such enlertahtrr* because of her excep
tionally excellent work this season.
M ! - Shew produces her act in an alto
gether different, fashion than heretofore
and will sing half a dozen songs that
are- new. but it i- possible that her ad
mirers Inwe 'till insist upon some of the
Hid nutnbe's. That she will receive a
royal welcome has been evidenced by
box parties and theater party arrange
men.s already made.
Another feature on this bill, and All*
tiiat ha- significant importance, will
be the first appearance In Atlanta of
i’lift' Gordon. the star of all German
comedians. Mr. Gordon will be partic
ularly interesting at this time, because
lie >s one of the most original and
unique creators of political comedy.
His whole act rests entirely on funny
stories pertiinhig to political topics,
and at this time, with the T. R, and
Taft set amble in Chicago and the argu
mrnl between a quartet of candidates
f c the other party, will give him ma
terial that is sure to interest and
amuse This is the first time such an
ait has been offered In Atlanta, and
that it will excite unusual interest is
predicted by those who have been, in
contact with the record of the really
clever entertainer.
After an absence of three years, Lulu
MpGonnell and Grant Simpson return
to Atlanta with their new act. a comedy
sketch that, elevated them from fea
ture to headline position in one short
season. DespM the fact that there are
women in vaudeville who have won the
distinction of being funny, there are
managers and critics who declare that
Miss McConnell, is funnier than all the
'other- put together. Site scored her
fl -I big success in "Piss, Pass. Pouff"
ind about five years ago took vaude
ville and succeeded at once. The new
sketch, called "The Right Girl." is
crowded with comedy situations that
piomise to win all kinds of attention.

original comedy acrobatic novelty, will

troduce a new Idea here., gnd Smythe
.■■nd Hartman and Schreck and Perci
val. clever novelty entertainers, will
appear on the bill.
With three such features as Lillian
Shaw. Cliff Gordon and McConnell and
Sfmi on. the bill will certainly be one
of the stiongert the Forsyth has ever
Offered. .Attendance during the last
lwo or three weeks has tested the ca -
pm ily of the house at all performances,

' The bill for next iveek is not ye'
complete. The management has under
consideration some of the, real big acts
of vaudeville. There is a possibility of
one of Ihe biggest stars know n to this
branch of the profession being th l
headliner for 'he weflk of the 17th.
FEATURE BILL BOOKED
AT BIJOU NEXT WEEK
The promise which was made by the
management that this week would be
the most remarkable vaudeville offer
ing of the season at the Bijou has been
more than sustained by the excellent
performance which has been given at
the Bijou during the week. Out of the
four acts on the bill It would be ex
ceedingly difficult to pick the feature
At least three of the acts could be con
sidered headliners in any vaudeville
theater in the country. The Wheelers,
with then- big fun novelty. "Fun on
the Boulevard:" the Bootblack Come
dy Four, wilh their quaint quartet
■ work, and Barto and Clark, in an up
to-date singing and dancing sketch,
furnish the classiest kind of an enter
tainment. and despite the rain which
i has prevajlcd nearly all the week, the
business has been fully up to expecta
tions. Another excellent bill is an
nounced for next week, consisting of
Moore and Elliott, in Mr. and Mrs. Gene
Hughes’ clever comedy playlet. "A Mat
, rimonial Substitute;” Beyrl and Elaine
Gray, a charming little sister act ir.
I singing and dancing: Al. H. Wild, ttie
Jovial Fat Fellow, and Marcus and Gar
trelle. comedy singing act Wholesome
comedy, good singing, classy dancing
' and a corking good sketch should make
■ this bill most attractive to theater-
■ goers. Following the usual custom, the
. very best of motion pictures will open
and close each performance. One mat
inee will be given every afternoon at 3
■ o'clock, except Saturday, when there
I will be matinees at 2:30 and 4 Night
' performances at 7:30 and 9.

Accurate in Detail
Throughout his career the young
newspaper reporter had endeavored to
be accurate in detail His work had
taken hint usually among noisy and
demonstrative crowds, whose periods
of applause or disapproval it was,his
duty to time. .
His copy generally ended up some- !
thing like this:
"Mr, A.'s remarks were greeted with
applause, which lasted for 73 seconds."
"Groans, lasting for two minutes,
greeted Mr. P.’s speech."
One day he was sent to report a fu
neral, and he wound his Story up as i
follows:
"In the silence that ensued the de- .
ceased's employer wept for sixteen sec
onds."
The Wrong Man
Two black eyes, s broken noee. teeth
knocked out— that was hit condition,
speaking broadly.
"Good lira vens I" remarked hie friend.
-What have you been doing?"
■The other night," declared the
bruised one, tn answer to the question,
■my girl said the would never marry
a man unless h» proved himself a brave
man."
"Well?"
-So 1 hired two men to set upon me
one night when she was with me."
“Yes: and what happened?"
"Weil, it was a dark night, and when
a chap knocked against me, T went, for
him—and look at mel You eee," he
contitiued sadly, "I had tackled an am
ateur champion by mistake. My two
chaps came up ton minutes later!
