MEMBERS of the debutante set,
who, after a winter and spring
of much gayety, have given
uway to the June brides and the col
lege girls, were ’>:• guests of a de
lightful party afternoon, when
Mrs. Holland Lowndes and Mrs. George
Lowndes. Jr., were hostesses at abridge
tea, complimenting their young sister,
Miss Wilkinson, of San Antonio, Texas.
The trio of pretty sisters, who have
won much admiration from Atlanta
since their coming here to reside, were
lovely in their smart afternoon frocks.
Mrs. George Lowndes wore white lin
gerie, lace trimmed and embellished
with dainty hand embroidery. Mrs.
Holland Lowndes was gowned in black
charmeuse satin, with the deep collar
and turned-back cuffs of' Irish lace.
Miss Wilkinson wore white embroid
ered crepe over sat:: , with .1 girdle of
black velvet.
The apartments of Mrs. George
Lowndes on Howard street were deco
rated lavishly in daisies and enchan
tress carnations, with palms and ferns.
Silk hose were given as prizes for top
score, consolation and honor guest,
Mrs. Brooks Entertains,
A pretty party of the day was given
by Mrs. Shirley Victor Brooks in honor
of Miss Georgia Watts, a bride-elect.
The decorations were of pink sweet
> peas. The prizes included silk hose, a

meeting this evening at 8 o’clock at the
Masonic temple, corner of Peachtree
and Cain streets.

Mrs. Flanders Entertains.
Mrs L. C Flanders entertained the
members of her bridge club and a few
other friends at bridge today at her
homo in Inman Park for Miss Wesley
Mitch ’ 1 bride-elect. A color scheme
of yellu.. and white was carried out in
detail, the decorations being of daisies,
palms and ferns. The prizes included a
parasol for top score, a picture for sec
ond prize, a deck of cards for consola
tion and a fancy work bag for the
honor guest. A buffet luncheon was
served at the close of the game. Mrs.
Flanders was assisted in entertaining
by Mrs. W. S. Larendon and Miss Lu
cile Flanders. Miss Caroline Larendon
served, punch. A shower of gifts for
the bride-elect was a feature of the af
fair.
Mrs. McEachern Hostess.
Mrs. J. N. McEachern gave a domino
party today at her home in West End
for Misses Mabry Ward Arnold and
Bessie Brogdon, two brides-elect, and
for Miss Willie DuPree, of Blue Ridge.
The decorations were of daisies and
nasturtiums. Invited to meet the three
honor guests were Misses Emma Ar
nold, Eddie Hardwick. Mert Rockmore,
Edith Brogdon, Louise Printup. Bessie

Clover-Leaf Tea.
Charming arid original was the ar
rangement of the four tables for a small
afternoon tea which Mrs. E. S. Ehney
gave at the Piedmont Driving club to
day. The tables were placed on the
porch in the form of a four-leaf clover.

to Meet Here
Next Week
An interesting number of visiting
girls will be here next week to attend
the eleventh national convention of the
Beta Sigma ( Orinlcron sorority, which
meets at the Georgian Terrace on June
18 to 21. There will be a pleasant so
cial side to the convention. The busi
ness sessions will be presided over by
the grand president, Miss Erna Berry
Watson, of Hamilton college faculty.
Lexington, Ky. Miss Christine Cole, of
Newnan, is vice president.
The sorority, while comparatively
new in Georgia, has a flourishing chap
ter at Brenau. Atlanta young women
members are Misses 'Sadie and Mary
Andrews, Miss Alma Glenn. Mrs. Roy
Z Lane, Mrs. Ethel Huff Chaffee, Mrs
Adelaide Allen Day and Mrs. V. J.
Adams.
About 75 delegates are expected, rep
resenting colleges in many states, from
Massachusetts to Texas.
A brilliant social event of the con
vention will be the reception on Tues
day evening at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. J. H. Andrews on Peachtree street,
the three young daughters of whom,
Mrs. Adams and Misses Sadie and Mary
Andrews, are prominent members of
the sorority, the Nu chaper, at Brenau.
They will have as their house guests
during the convention Mrs. George E.
Stock, of Montgomery; Miss Nina
Dent, of Eufaula. Ala.; Miss Mary Elise
Gary, of Gulfport, Miss, and Miss
Grace Pruitt, of Clayton, Ala.

around these tables. Crystal baskets of
coreopsis on each table added to the
effective picture.
Mrs. William Lang, of New York, the
guest of the Misses Glenn, was the
honoree of this affair, which is one of
a series to he given by Mrs. Ehney.
Sixteen ladies were present this after
noon.
Miss Ethel Massengale and her moth -
er leave Sunday to spend the summer in
California and the West.

Sergeant- Rice.
Mr. Charles Edward Sergeant has is
sued cards announcing the marriage of
his daughter, Antoinette Coles, to Mr.
Fountain Rice. Jr . on Wednesday.
Cards inclosed state that Mr. and
Mrs. Rice will be at home after July 1
in the Elizabeth apartments, Chatta
nooga, Tenn.
Graduation Exercises.
One of the interesting school events
of the week was the commencement of
the Academy of the Immaculate Con
ception on Washington street. The
hall was decorated with palms and
flowers, th l ' walls being adorned with
the paintings of the art class. An in
teresting program was rendered. The
Salutatory was given by Miss Mary
Corley. “The Journey of Life." an al
legory In tableaux and music, was
given by seven young ladies. Miss
Thelma Cullinane and Miss Jo Regis
Cheves recited and the Valedictory was
delivered by Miss Annie Laurie Byerly.
This young woman was presented with
three awards—a gold cross, gold medal
and a copy of Wordsworth's poems. Vo
cal and instrumental music was ren
dered. Academic honors were conferred
on the graduate. Miss Annie Laurie
Byerly. The graduating address was
made by Rt. Rev. Benjamin J. Kelley,
bishpp of Savannah.
