June 14.—The Board of Trade inquiry Into the Titanic disaster ' will be rushed to a conclusion. This announcement was made by Lord Mer. sey. the presiding officer, when the sit ting was resumed today. Lord Mersey said he wotfld sit tomorrow instead of taking the usual week-end adjourn ment. Sir Rufus Isaacs said that the testimony of Captain Rostron of the Carpathla was deaired, but that Ros tron would not be available until the week after next. He suggested that the summing up be commenced without waiting for Rostron. The court of inquiry will find that the Californian defaulted from duty. Lord I Mersey, the president, without equivo cation, said: "I have no doubt that the Californian did see distress signals; that they were signals from the Titanic, and that the Californian ought to have made efforts to get to Hie Titanic.” WALTER WISE ANNOUNCES FOR CONGRESS IN SIXTH THOMASTON.
