6 TUGGLE SCENTS PLDTINMGES Former Prison Inspector Calls Fraud Accusations Attempt to Break Him Politically. Hill C. Tuggle, former prison inspec tor and present candidate for prison commissioner, recently charged by Wood C. Campbell, an ex-convict, with saving taken Campbell’s money while ;he latter was a prisoner, promising to obtain him a pardon, has issued a statement declaring Campbell's allega ions untrue. Tuggle asserts that the charges were brought to break him po iticaliy. Tuggle is at present held on bond lending an investigation by the De- Kalb county grand jury. The former nspector says his reply to Campbell's illegations has been delayed until he :ou!d get affidavits to prove Campbell's rta’ement untrue. H» says. “While I do not think the public will Msten to accept uncorroborated sharges made by a man twice tried for nurder and once convicted of man daughter and given the extreme penal ly of the law, I do wish to state that he allegations made by this man Campbell—so far as . they aver illegal >r immoral actions on my part—are lies nade out of the whole cloth. Once Paid Hie Expenses. "The only money he ever paid me vas for my expenses on a trip made to Columbus for the purpose of consulting 11s lawyer in his behalf. That amount ’d to S2O 65. and he has h receipt for it. t was shown at the commitment hear, ng that on two other occasions he of ered to place large sums of money In ny hands and I refused to receive :ame These circumstances he did not leny. 'The time when he says he gave me .575 was after I had resigned as con riot inspector, when, had I so desired, it vould have been legal and moral for me n accept pay for my services in his tehalf. But I did not take the money, tnd the only corroboration he has for lis charge that I did is his own state nent.” C C C cures eczema, 3. 3. 3. ACNE,TETTER ETC While Eczema, Acne, Tetter, Salt Rheum, etc., are troubles which affect he skin, their source is far deeper than the outside cuticle. These affections .re caused by irritating humors, or uratic acid in the blood. Such impurities aflame and irritate the delicate net-work of fibrous tissue which lies just •eneath the surface of the outer skin, and the inflammatory discharge thus iroduced is forced out through the pores and glands, and is continually ;eptup while the blood remains infected. This exudation causes the form tion of scales and crusts so often seen in Eczema, and when they are •cratched off the flesh is left raw and more susceptfble to other infection, tcan very readily be seen then that to produce a cure the circulation must >e purified and cleansed. This S. 8. S. will do. It goes down to the very >ottom, removes all humors and impurities, neutralizes the excessive acids if the system and in this way removes the cause of disease. Local applica :ions can only soothe the irritation and assist in keeping the skin clean; they lever produce a cure because such treatment does not reach the blood. 3.8 S. restores to the thin, acrid blood all its lost properties, makes it jure and rich and enables it to nourish the skin and keep it soft, smooth md healthy. The dance wasn't done as a part of the p o gram. but followed the immemorial custom of the tribe the actors come from byway of celebration of the ar rival of the Strawberry Moon. In or der to preserve this rite to the letter the Indians sent to the northland for the particular kind of berries indls pen-lble to the proper doing of toe dance. Strawberry Moon\ BAL pate, lend it a dignity that even skep tics acknowledge The strawberries are put in a large receptacle which is held by the oldest Medicine Man standing in the center. Around him move the chanting devotees, each holding a dip per. In turn the dipper is thrust into the bowl and filled, thia being each one's portion. The music is crude, but wonderfully rhythmical, led by the Singing Man. who beats the tom-tom. The movements of the dance border on the grotesque, but the dancers have the grace of those who live out of doors, and the entire ceremony is dom inated by the strong communal spirit which Hiawatha is said to have brought to his people. Pagan though he -was, Hiawatha taught milch that shows his kinship to the other great religious teachers. CITY HALL ECHO DISTURBS CLERK FOR SALE—Ope echo; warranted dou ble barreled, back-acting, reverber ating and durable. Will accept cash offer or exchange for set of acoustics In good condition. Apply Walter Tay lor, city clerk and chief echoist. That’s the want ad Walter Taylor says he’d like to put in the paper if he thought it would get him anything Rut he believes it would take a dyna mite explosion to put the new city council chamber into shape where a member could tell what’s going on. It's all on account of the acoustics, or lack of them. Clerk Taylor ascends his rostrum and reads a resolution. He reads lustily and clearly. Then that pestiferous echo lurking in the rear of the hall catches his words and flings them back in his teeth, with additions, interpolations, va riations and ramifications. Before he is through the first sentence It sounds like a busted phonograph when the needle slips a cog In the Lucia sextet and goes dancing over the record. In the words of Councilman Abernathy. It's something fierce. Perhaps some day they'll call in an architect and turn the council cham ber around, rip out the inner wall, close up a few windows and open some more, string some wires from the roof, paint the ceiling green and hang a rabbit’s foot from the chandelier. Then a coun cilman can gain some idea of w'hat's being done to the government—per haps. The only method of gaining this knowledge now is to lean over the clerk's shoulder and read along with him, which is inconvenient to all parties concerned. So If anybody will make an offer for this echo and guarantee to remove it from the premises he can secure a fine summer resort attrac tion at a bargain. FLOWERS SO WILD THEY PICKED ’EM WITH A GUN LONDON. June 18. Coming from parts of southern Nigeria, where scarcely a white man—and certainly no white woman had gone before, Mr. and Mrs. P. Amaury Talbot have just arrived in London, bringing over 2,000 varieties of botanical specimens, of I which about ten per cent are expected to prove new discoveries. Many of the flowers grew on trees at such a height that the only way to secure them was by shooting them down with a gun. BOBBIE BURNS FIGURES IN NEW LONDON DRAMA LONDON. The officers of the Central Bank and Trust Company began business in their handsome quarters in the Candler building Today. The moving of the of fice desks and books to the marble lined courtllke foyer was accomplished in record time and crowds came to see the splendidly appointed offices in op eration. The hundreds of thousands of dollars in money did not have to be transferred from the old quarters in the Dakota hotel building across the way, because the currency has always reposed in the great vaults just beneath the new quarters. The bank's officers were kept ex tremely busy all day demonstrating to Interested throngs of customers the new electric dumbwaiter by which $500,000 can be whisked from the vaults to the cashier’s window In ten seconds by the pressing of an electric button. Many other innovations and decora tions greeted the spectators and they were particularly fervid in their praise of President > Asa G. Candler's marble office and the new plan by which all the officers ar? seated In the very center ol the office for the greater accessibility and convenience of clients.
