Immature breeding stock. As a general rule, the mating of a cock with pullets and a cockerel with hens is advisable, the idea being that if one side of the mating Is of well matured stock the fertility of the eggs will be stronger. Many breeders will not use a pullet in their breeding yards. It has been proved by experiments that eggs laid by immature pullets, as a rule, will not hatch as well or produce as strong chicks as those laid by a well matured hen. It is also a general rule that eggs laid during the natural breeding season and nesting time will hatch better and produce stronger chicks than those that, are produced at other seasons. Orpingtons.
