LONDON. July 11.—The British gov
ernment i* watching developments in

which will require summary action.
Dispatches from Madrid say that roy
alists have burned Braga, a city of 25.-
000 inhabitants, indicating that a con
dition of anarchy prevails in the north
ern section of Portugal.
If the situation grows worse Rriti.-h
warships will be sent to Oporto to pro
tect foreign interests.
Royalists Grow Daring.
LISBON, July 11.—The loyalist in
surrection in northern Portugal is

FARM EARNS $28,678.00
An increase of only 40 convicts over
the number confined in the stale penis
tentiary one year ago. is shown in the
annua! report of the Georgia prison
commission. On May 31 there were
2.708 in the prison, against 2.668 in lull.
The report will be submitted to the
general assembly at once.
The state farm paid into the state
treasury $28,678.73 at the end of the
fis< al year on the last day "f May. This
is one of the largest amounts ever
earned by the farm The commission

for erection of permanent quarters for
negro convicts tn replace the stockade
which burned in 191 T

eral, the judicial y committees of both
the senate and the house unanimously
>commended today the passage of the
hill calling upon Governot Brown 1.0
bting suit to establish the state’s title
to the land at Tallulaffi Falls.
Ellis, of Tiff, author of the measure,
appeared before the senate committee
in a strong argument for favorable con
sideration, and there was practically
no opposition when the committee
brought the measure to vote.
