Mr and Mrs. William A. Speer will
leave Tuesday for a stay of a few weeks
at the Marlborough-Blenheim. Atlantic
City. They expect to spend several
days in New York and will then re
turn home for August, leaving In Sep
tember in their touring car for an ex
tended motor trip to the White.moun
tains and to Canada.
Misses Edith and Antoinette Kirk
patrick return home tomorrow from
Wrightsville Reach, where they have
had a delightful stay at the Seashore

Washington. Ga.. will return with them

PHILIPPINE TEACHERS
WASHINGTON, July 12—A national
campaign for teachers In the schools of
the Philippine islands has been begun
by the Federal government, owing to
the lack of applicants for the numerous
places In the Philippines, the bureau of
insular affairs has announced exami
nations for teachers to take place Au
gust 28 and 29 in nearly every princi
pal city In the I’nited States The cal!
Is principally for graduates of college*
normal schools, polytechnic and agri
cultural schools. Also teacher* with
successful experience are desired.
