i.tke the Reds, rhe Barred Rocks and
'< orptngtnns the Partridge Plym
outh. Rocks are "general purpose" fowls.
They ar.- good fnr both eggs and meat.
• They are both beautiful and useful.
S. A. Noftzger originated the breed,
and he did It because he wished to pre
serve the marvelous beauty of par
tridge coloring in some fowl of medium
size and unquestioned utility. He had
a tremr ndous time in breeding the Par
tridge Rocks, and It was only after
years and years of patient work that he
got them established and breeding true
to type.
There is no question of the beauty of
th- partridge coloring, and when it Is
combined with the Rock shape ft fur
nishes a bird that is unetfualed in ap
pearan Their coloring is handsome,
but it is a useful color It Is so dark
that it does not "show dirt." and it can
lie > vhlbited without washing—a tre
mendous advantage over the light col
mod breeds.
The egg-laying ability of the Par
tridge Plymouth Rocks Is unquestioned.
The year the breed was admitted to the
standard a pen of Partridge Plymouth
Rocks won one of the largest and most
Important egg-la> Ing contests over held
in America.
The Partridge Plymouth Rocks are
extremely hardy birds. The young,
which look for all the world like husky
partridges, are lively and grand for
agers. They can stand any ordinary
sorts of abuse and grow and prosper
oven tinder adverse conditions. They
mature rapidly and develop to broiling
size as rapidly as anx breed. Their
skin is white and their flesh unequaled
in flavor.
The fact that far-sighted breeders,
whn attempt always to keep one step
in advance of popular favor, laid in a
supply of Partridge Plymouth Rocks
this year, and that they will be ready
' to meet a big demand for eggs next
spring is an indication in itself that
their popularity Is growing.
Next year Is \ ery sure to be a Par
tri.lge Plymouth Rock year throughout
the I'nited States.
