warm weather. This afternoon a num
ber of young women were at East Lake
enjoying a swim in the lake and re
maining afterward for tea on the
breezy porch.
Among the girls taking a dip in the
lake were Misses Penelope and Frances
Clarke and their guests. Miss Dorothy
Davis, Miss Helen Harrison and Miss
Mary VonWyschezi. of Baltimore; Miss
Emma Gregg and her guest. Miss Ruth

A partv of six having tea on the
porch at the Piedmont Driving club this
afternoon was composed of a group of
girls who were guests of Miss Harriet
Calhoun, among these being Miss
Louise Broyles and Miss Constance
O'Keefe, for whom the tea party was
arranged.

who is being entertained at many hap

picture hat.

Mrs. Robert F. Maddox will entertain
at an informal tea tomorrow afternoon
at her home on the Paces Ferry road.

Saturday evening for her guest, Miss
McCandllsh, of Jackson, Miss,

MILLEDGEVILLE VETERAN DIES.
MILLEDGEVILLE, GA.. July 25.
After an Illness of several months from
paralysis, P. W. Brown, a Civil war
veteran, aged 72, died iiere today. The
funeral takes place here tomorrow
morning.
TWO PROSTRATIONS AT MACON.
MACON. GA„ July 25.—The two
victims of heat prostration, now at the
city hospital, will recover, according
to the physicians. One, a contractor,
fell from a building and sustained
painful Injuries. The other, a negro,
fell on the streets.

Railway Invites Business Men
and City Officials to Inspect
Building Saturday.
The Southern railway’s new freight de
pot in Madison avenue, between the Nel
son and Peters streets viaducts, another
Ftep in the development of the Terminal
district, is complete and will be thrown
open to thr public for inspection Saturday
from 10 to 3 o’clock.
Invitations enouncing the completion of
the depot have been issued to Atlanta
merchants and shippers, tn the mayor and
council, to members of the Chamber of
Commerce, to the railroad commission, to
the Atlanta Freight bureau and freight
and traffic officials of all parts of the
Southern’s system.
The six-story office building, adjoining
the freight depot, which will house all of
ficials of the company in Atlanta, is not
quite complete, but work is being hurried
to completion and in a short while it is
hoped to have it ready for occupancy.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Georgia Libby circle of the
King’s Daughters and Sons will meet
at the residence of Mrs. Goree, 1080
DeKalb avenue, tomorrow afternoon at
3 o'clock.
Electa chapter, Order of Eastern Star,
holds a special meeting tonight at 8
o'clock in the Masonic temple. Miss
Tallulah Atkins, worthy grand matron
of Georgia, will be the guest of honor
and Inspecting officer. The degrees will
be conferred, refreshments served and
a social hour enjoyed.
Miss Daisy Rossignol entertained at
three tables of bridge, this afternoon
for Miss Olive May Ellison, of Chatta
nooga, the guest of Mrs. Lamar Griggs.
Silk hose for top score and a silver
pencil -for consolation were the prizes.
The decorations were of summer flow
ers and ferns. Both hostess and hon
oree wore white lingerie gowns.

NAGEL NOT TO RESIGN.
WASHINGTON. July 25. Secretary of
Commerce and Labor Nagel today de
scribed the report that he is to resign
as an "absurd rumor." He stated he
has no intention of resigning.

STOCKHOLDER ATTACKS
NEW PRIMO MOTOR CO.
I. D. Crawford, a stockholder in the
New Primo Motor Works, sought to have
the company dissolved in a bill filed in
superior court today. The company re
cently was taken over by the present own
ers when it was adjudged bankrupt in the
United States district court. Crawford
says the concern is indebted to him for
57,800 and is unable to pay it. The case
Is set for next Monday.
