Inquiries re
garding cheap and
rellabh methods /
of pet ervlngegg * ' l r
are so frequently
received as to indicate that.the matter
last one of general Interest Several
methods have been proposed and used
1 with vai ying degrees of success, but ,
one of comparatively recent origin de- I
■ serve- especial notice because of Its |
simplicity, cheapness and reliability. I
Water glass (silicate of sodium) can
; be purchased of wholesale dialers In
1 chemicals In 5 or 10 gallon lots and of a
; specific gravity of approximately 1.4 a*
i from 50 to 75 cents per gallon. When
I purchased of local druggists, It should
not cost more than $1 per gallon. One
lon when properly dilifted is sufil-
■ ' - ' o zen egg
, For use dilute one gallon of this
compound to 10 gallons, with pure, re-
I cently boiled wafer. Mix thoroughly
. and when cool pour the solution Into
earthenware Jars of convenient size for
■ the storage of the eggs. Stand the Jars
In a cool cellar or basement and place
in them only- freshly laid eggs. The
e. may he kepi in the solution or
merely dipped Into ft several times and
then stored in a cool, dry place. In
; ■ ither case, the pores of t fie shells will
be so effectually closed as to prevent
h< entrance of air and the agencies
1 hich effect decay. So treated, they
' ill keep perfectly for five or six
; months, and even longer.
The Importance of this fact becomes
L'PPnrent when another is recalled: the
i market price of eggs during the sum
mer months seldom exceeds 2(1 cents,
while during the winter months it
ranges up to 60 and 65 cents per dozen.
, By the use of water glass when eggs
are cheap the average family can, with
no small percentage of profit on the In
vestment. easily control the situation.

IN OUR opinion, Marietta street is
the next street to get enhance

physical development® that are now
| being made on that street, together
with the completion of the Bell

■ I being built.
We call especial attention to 2

fiver a quarter of a million dol

and it is safe to predict that in
