< HICAGO. Aug. 31. Wheat opened to
( day with prices ranging from ’.s<• to %c

tember option was a feature. The de
pressing factors were easy cables, bearish
foreign news, larger receipts in the
Northwest and fine weather.
( orn suffered a weak feeling on fine
I weather and weakness in wheat. Prices
were a shade to »4c off at the start. The
buying demand was limited to local pit
I talent, which sold freelj’.
.. <,a, -5 were <’««>'• with prices a shade to

Provisions showed very little change in
prices at the start.
Liquidation was the order of the day
on the board of trade and there were
losses along the entire gain list of
for wheat, for corn and
; for oats.
j Severe liquidation by longs was In evi
• den<e during nearly the entire session.
1 here was an absence of buying power
and but one course left for values, and
that course was downward. Owing to the
two holidays in succession the trade was
inclined to even up their positions and
the forecast of good weather and in
creased recipts was a help for the bears
in all cereals.
Only 30,000 bushels cash wheat were
sold here and 150,000 bushels corn and
455,000 bushels oats. Vessel room was
chartered for 109.000 bushels corn to Buf
ialo. The English visible supply decreased
630.000 bushels for the week compared
with an increase of 1,515,000 bushels for
a like period last year.
Provision trade was fairlv active, al
though the market was devoid of features
and prices most of the day were not far
from yesterday’s dosing level.
