From Athens will come one of the Interesting brides of the autumn, when Mr. Robert Winship Wood ruff brings to Atlanta as his bride Miss Nel! Hodgson, one of the belles of that city. Miss Hodgson and Mi. Woodruff will be married on Octobe 1", and after their ar rival here a series of welcoming af fairs will be tendered the bridal couple. Mrs. David Blair Foster is a bride from Chester, Conn., formerly Miss Carol Frames Spratt, who comes to Atlanta Sunday from a bridal trip, and will be a charming acqui sition to the city's young matrons. Effectiveness of Decorations. A November wedding will bring to Atlanta a charming Baltimore girl, .Miss Agnes McEvoy, who weds Mr Brutus Clay on the 12th of that month, and a Kentucky beauty to bti onte an Atlanta matron in the autumn is Miss Lillian Harris, who weds Mr. R. C. Milner on Octo ber 16. The military or cavalry decora 'is at a wedding adds to the ef fectiveness of the ceremony, and Miss Margaret Disosway’ has wisely hosen to introduce the cavalry col ors of gold and white in her wed ding to Captain McKinley, of Fort C'glethorpe, o’n October 18. Miss Mary King, who Is traveling abroad with a party of friends from Savannah, will sail tor home on Uctober 31, Future Belles Are to Resume College Study A NUMBER of the debu tantes of the coming winter are now abroad or are just returning from trips to the Old World, several of these having been abroad for a year or so’s study. This week and next week the girls who are going off to a "finishing school” will leave the city for a winter’s work and study. Misses Eula Jackson, Mamie Ansley, Louise Broyles, Isolene Campbell and Josephine Mobley leave next Friday to attend "The Castjp," at Tarrytown-on-the-Hud son. for the winter. Miss Camp bell will join her mother, Mrs. Orme Campbell, in New York for a short stay before entering school. Miss Adgate Ellis accompanies her mother, Mrs. William D. Ellis, to New’ York next week, where she will spend the winter at Miss Sco ville's school, and will study mu sic under Oscar Sanger. Miss Mary Brown is now visit ing friends in Washington, D. C., before going to Boston, where she Will resume her studies at the Wal nut Hill school. Miss Lucile Kuhrt, Miss Isabel Amorous and Miss Nell Prince have returned to St. Elizabeths college. New Jer sey, where Miss Prince enters upon her senior year. Miss Frances Clarke returns to Goucher college. Baltimore, and Miss Harrie Schles inger has returned to Smith col lege. Takes Special Course. Miss Dorothy Harman leaves in a few days to resume her studies at Fraulein Klatte's school in Ber lin, where she spent the past win ter. Miss Jessie McKee will study this winter at Neuilly, near Paris. Miss Louise Parker will attend school at Washington college, Washington, D. C. Miss Ferol Humphries and Miss Alice Parks leave September 23 to attend school at Sweetbrier, Va. Miss Gladys Glover leaves next week to study at the Sacred Heart convent, Manhattanville, N. Y. Miss Virginia Lipscomb left today to visit Miss Mattie T.anrb In Norfolk, Va., and on October 1 she and Miss Lamb will resume their studies at the Mary Baldwin school in Staunton. Va. Miss Willie Muse and Miss Helen McCullough return to Hollins. A group of young Atlanta girls who will study at Lucy Cobb In stitute in Athens are Miss Cora McCord Brown, Miss Lawson ’ Hines, Miss Mary Murphy, Miss Fay Dobbs, Miss Epple Clarke and Miss Theo Prioleau. Miss Ida May Blount will resume her studies at Barnard college, New York, and Miss Malzie Thurs ton will spend the winter taking a special course at Barnard. Miss Gertrude Richardson re turns to the National Cathedral school tn Washington for another year. Miss Isabel Robinson, one of the charming members of the school girl set, who attended an Eastern school the past winter, will remain at home this year, though she does not make her debut for another season. A Year’s Study Abroad. Coming home from a year’s study abroad will be Miss Katherine El lis, who will be one of the season’s debutantes. Miss Ellis spent the year in Berlin, and this summer has been traveling on the conti nent with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ellis, and their young er daughter. Frances. The beauti ful new residence of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis in Ansley Park will be the scene of much of the winter’s gaye ty, and Miss Ellis will one of the notable debutantes of the year. Another Atlanta girl who has been abroad this summer and returns soon to make her formal bow to the social world is Miss Margaret Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Grant. Miss Grant is a charming and clever young woman, and has much of the charm of per sonality and manners which have added to the beauty of her mother, one of the social leaders of the South. MBs Mildred Harman, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harman, is another member of the debutante set who has had several years’ study and travel abroad. She spent last year in Berlin. Miss Marie Pappenheimer and Miss Marion Goldsmith, two other mem bers of next season’s debutante set, have tlust returned from a tour of the Old World. Miss Hildreth Smith has had a delightful stay of a year or two abroad, having re turned in the late summer to spend this winter at home, and Miss Hel en Prior Is now abroad, but will return In time for • the winter’s gayetles Miss Rosalie Davis leaves soon to spend a year or so In study abroad before making her debut next wiuu«*
