IN HOE STATE
Says Commoner Is Trying to
Give False Impression to Re
lations With Harriman.
HOLDREGE. NEBR., Sept. 20.
Colonel Roosevelt renewed hie attack
upon William J. Bryan today In his
invasion of Nebraska. At Denver last
night the ex-president declared that
jlr. Bryan is trying to give a mislead
ing impression as to the visit of E. H.
Harriman at the white house in 1904.
■I have nothing to conceal about Mr.
Harriman’s visit,” said Colonel Roose
velt today. "Mr. Bryan insinuates that
yr. Harriman came to see me because
I wanted him to contribute to the cam
paign fund. Now, if I had wanted that
i would not have written to him what
I wanted to see hint about could wait
just as well until after election. If it
was money I wanted for the campaign,
I would have written that I wished to
see him before election. If a man is
honorable after what I have said about
this, he will not go about repeating
what Mr. Bryan has said, and if any
man does repeat it, I shall pay no at
tention to him. He will be unworthy
of not ice.”
Roosevelt lias a hard two days of
campaigning before him in Bryan's own
state. Tonight he speaks at Omaha
and starts again tomorrow at Hast

Johnson, Fatigued,
Cancels Day’s Tour
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 20. —After a
conference early this morning with
State Chairman Edwin M. Lee, of the
Progressive party, Governor Johnson,
of California, decided to cancel the
speaking trip scheduled for him today
through the north and central part of
the state. He was to have spoken at
Noblesville, Kokotno, Marlon, Anderson
and intermediate towns. Mr. Johnson
will go direct from Indianapolis to Cin
cinnati early this afternoon. The cause
of the abrupt change in plans was that
the governor was tltnost exhausted by
the hard schedule carried out yester
day and felt that he could not make the
entire itinerary without putting him
self in such a physical condition that
he could not do jtstice in Ohio.
The governor found 5,000 people
waiting at Tomliison hall when he ar
rived at 9 o’clo® last night and ad
dressed them foi one hour.

MAN LOSES ’EmH/VEARS
HIS COAT FOR TROUSERS
ST. LOUIS. Sejit. 20. —Patrolman
Voyce took to central station a man
clad in a swallow-tail coat, peanut der
by, celluloid shirt front and what ap
peared to be a pair of white tights, but
which proved to be his undergarment.
He had found the man asleep in a door
way.
Lieutenant Seth Singleton made the
man doff his coat and thrust his legs
into the sleeves and button himself up
the back upside down.
The man said he was Phil Smith, and
that he was perfectly satisfied with the
swallow-tail trousers.

to lazy liver, delayed, fermenting food

poison reaches the delicate brain tissue
it causes congestion and that dull, sick

THE ATLANTA GEORGIAN
OLD GUARD PLANNING
.TO “RETURN CALL” OF
NORTHERN MILITARY
Atlanta’s Old Guard is to invade the
North a second time, but this time the
members of the city’s histofical organisa
tion will be bent upon a social instead of
a peace mission.
At a meeting last night the guardsmen
unanimously decided to return the visits
of the military commands which came
here last October for the unveiling of the
peace monument.
A dress rehearsal for the reception at
the Armory October 10, the anniversary
of the unveiling of the monument, was
held last night. In their new uniforms
the guardsmen were put through their
paces by Major J. F. Burke and Sergeant
Harrison Jones. -
The reception is to he distinctly mili
tary. Invited to meet the Old Guard will
be the governor and his staff, the mayor
and city' officials; General I. K. Evans,
commander of the Department of the
Gulf and his aids; Colonel VanOrsdale
and the officers of the Seventeenth infan
try; officers of the Fifth regiment, the
Governors Horse Guard and the Atlanta
artillery.
The following men were elected colonels
on the honorary' staff of the organization:
Dr. E. L. Connally. Colonel Louis Ghol
stin, Ben B. Crew, Colonel W. L. Peel
and Captain W. M. Crumley.
