Season’s Forecast Promises Many Events in Society Although Atlanta’s social season shows few signs of awaJcening at present, fore casts of a brilliant season may be made from the reports of many interesting weddings, with their pre-nuptial festivities; the roll of debutantes, which grows more and more interesting as new names are definitely added, and the count of visitors, for whom Atlanta will ex ercise the well known hospitality which has never failed to cause the visitor, once entertained here, to come again. One of the first of the season’s visitors is Miss Marjorie Bobb, of New Orleans, who is the guest of Miss Jennie D. Harris. Miss Bobb arrived Friday and remains some time with Miss Harris. She will be the complimented guest of a din ner party entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnson, Jr., at the Driving club tonight. A number of pretty parties will be tendered her next week. Miss Evelyn Rose, of Knoxville, is to be an early autumn visitor, coming on October 5 to be with Miss Helen Hawkins. Both Miss Rose and Miss Bobb will be brides maids at the wedding of Miss Nell Hodgson, of Athens, and Mr. Rob ert Woodruff, of this city, in Octo ber in that city. - Few Definite Plans Maxie. Miss Viola Johnston, of Macon, who was one of the most .popular visitors here last season, comes in the early autumn to visit Miss Margaret Hawkins, and to share in i the brilliant affairs f/>r the debu tantes of the season. Miss Haw kins is to be one of the number, and she will be extensively enter tained. Many other members of the debutante set will have visitors during the time of their debut af fairs, which promises to be a de lightful series of large afternoon and evening parties. Few of the debutantes have made definite plans as to their formal debuts, but among those who will be added to Atlanta’s young so ciety set during the winter are many of the pretty young girls of the city. Among these are Misses Margaret Hawkins, Helen Dargan, Margaret Grant, Jennie D. Harris, Katherine Ellis, Sarah Coates, Laura Lee Cooney, Callie Hoke Smith, Helen ! Prior, Mildred Harman. Jane Coop er. Lyda Nash, Mary Hines. Marie i Pappenheimer. Dates for autumn weddings are I being set and plans made for these events. Miss Margaret McEvoy, of Baltimore, and Mr. Brutus Clay, of Atlanta, will be married on No vember 12, this to be one of the very interesting weddings of the fall. Miss Nell Hodgson and Mr. Robert Woodruff are to have a brilliant weeding at the bride's home in Athens, the date selected being October 17. fine of tiie early fall weddings will be that of Miss Elvira West moreland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Westmoreland, and Mr. Junius Prade, which will take place Thursday evening. October 10, Miss Westmoreland, who since her debut two years ago has been very popular, has chosen a home wedding, which will be witnessed by a large number of friends of the bride and bridegroorn-elect. The bride’s “chum,” Miss Adeline Thom as, will bi- ni.lid of honor, and her sister, Mrs. ChatlaS E. Dowman, of Birmingham, will be matron of hon -1 *'i. while Airs. I-.
