In an effort to bar ignorance and in
competence in order to raise the stand
ard of their profession, stenographers of
Atlanta are giving the educational
campaign their unusual support.
The reason for the low average of
wages paid the toilers at the typewrit
ers has been given by employers as a
lamentable lack of knowledge of every
day things, places and events, on the
part of the employed.
The plan which The Georgian has
suggested and the stenographers are
eagerly indorsing is that each operator
who is anxious to better bis or her
condition obtain the best and handiest
work of reference ever compiled—the
Standard Atlas and Chronological His
tory of the World.
Practical experience has proved that
by using the work as an error elimina
tor perfect copy can be produced and
the argument of the employer that the
employee is not worth more than the
low salary paid successfully refuted.
The demand of stenographers for At
lases is growing hourly, and the result
is sure to be more money and better
work.
