I CONSTANTINOPLE. Oct. 4. -The
I war fever here is growing every' hour.
I The newspapers and populace have

I Young Turks federation and the priest-
I hood of the Moslem church.
Crowds of men and boys, the latter
mainly students, surged about the Porte
building today with shouts and dem
onstrations In favor of the immediate
declaration of war. Many of the
schools are closed Students bearing
banners with such inscriptions a.s "Long
live war'' and "Down w ith Greece” pa
raded the streets.
It was officially announced by the
foreign minister that no peace treaty
has yet been entered into by Turkey
and Italy, although It is possible that
peace may be brought about within 48
hours. Man- conservatives believe the

Turk Slays Servian Priest.
BELGRADE. SERVIA, Oct. 4
There was an anti-Turkish demonstra
'ion here today following the receipt
of a dispatch stating that a Servian
priest named Urozvitch had been as
sassinated by a Turk at Prokublje. The
priest was addressing a patriotic meet,
mg when he was shot dead. The as
sassin escaped.

Chicago Greeks
Called for War
• Hit AGO, Oct. 4.—Nicholas Salo
p*nilas, of the local Greek consulate,
has issued a proclamation calling more
than 3,000 Greeks in Chicago to pre
pare for war in the Balkans. A mon
ster meeting is planned for tonight at
Hull house. Salopoulas said that there
are more than 3.000 Greeks here subject
to the call to arms at anv time his
government sees fit to call them. "To
all these I have sent the proclamation
urging them to hurry,” said Salop,u
las. “At the meeting we will decide
just what accommodations and trans
portation will be needed."

An increase in value of SSOO a front
foot was recorded on Broad street yes
terday when ft was announced that the.
northeast corner of Broad and Alabama
streets had been sold for $150,000, or
$3,000 a front foot. Just fifteen months
ago the same property was bought by
the present sellers for $125,000.
The property formerly was a part of
the Inman estate and is known as No
19 South Broad street. It was sold by
Mrs. J. B. Duke, of New York, to
Charles C. and Oscar Davis and their
sister. Mrs. Victor D. Seals, fifteen
months ago. and was resold by them
yesterday. Forrest & George Adair
who handled the deal, say the site prob
ably win be used for an office building
within a year.

of Atlanta Gideons will arrive in Ma

HOSPITAL MUST RECEIVE

MACON, GA., Oct. 4.—The directors
of the Macon hospital have announced
to the public that unless the city and
county increase their respective annual
appropriations the institution must be
closed. It is stated tnat the hospital,
which is Macon’s only public sanita
rium, lacks ample accommodations and
is greatly in debt. It is stated that
the profit made out of the pay wards is
required to meet the deficiency in the
charity departments, and that for the
last five years there has been an annum
shortage in receipts of several thou
sand dollars

CELEBRATE GERMAN DAY.
MACON, GA.. Oct. 4.—German day
was celebrated h re by the German-
Antericans of Macon, particularly with
an elaborate ball, last night, which was
the concluding feature of an all-day
observance. The Germania club was
recently organized, and its first official
act was to celebrate the landing of the
ship of native Germans in America in
1749.
