A Good lime to Buy Stock, a Good lime
< to Sell Stock
I
I
According to the natural trend of events the best trade in
! stock comes just at the beginniim of the breeding season. The
I reason for this is apparent. The purchaser
i pul* off the oettinjy of stock until the very lasi
| moment. ;s a rule. The seller waits to do bis
: heaviest advertising until that time. The r<.siitT
I is the trade is all bunched into a few weeks’
I time. Is this a good plan for all parties con-
I corned ? We think not. At such a time every-
I thing is done with a rush, and we all know
I that when things are attended to in that sold of
! away that the best results can not be attained.
' Stock is not selected with the care that the case
- demands. Mistakes are made in many ways.
Orders are sometimes swapped, and have to
! be returned, causing extra ex'pense and delay,
i The purchaser does pot have time to study find
I consider bis matings as he should, because he
iisin a hurry to <r<-i his pens mated and to
work. If a male bird fails to fertilize the eggs
it causes a great incon\tuiience io have to wait at such a busy
j season for one to be ordered from a distance. Stock should be
in their yards weeks before they
. are expected to produce eggs lor
i hatching, in order that they may
become thoroughly satisfied with
their surroundings.
Not all of these things can be accom
plished if the buying is deferred to the
last minute. Taking all these things
into consideration, both on the side of
the buyer and the seller, the fall of the
year is a most propitious time to do
business. If 1 were in the market for
stock, either in the shape of a good
nolle for Introducing new blood or as
beginner in the busin, ss wishing to
stock up entirely, 1 would be skirmish
ing around right now for what 1 want
ed. 1 would not let up until I had
found what 1 wanted. I would get
them home and yarded to suit me.
When they had laid a few eggs 1 would
set a ■ luteh of them and find out how

Buying Stock.
One can usually’ get stock cheaper In
the fall on account of the breeder being
crowded for room and willing to sacri
fice to make the room needed. When
I was in the business in earnest I al
ways made it a point to spend a good
i part of the money I had for advertis
’ - ing early in the season, for I knew that
when the height of the season was on
. 1 would got my share of the trade with-
■ out pushing that, part of it to the limit,
of course, I never let up entirely. There
i fore, taking a.ll things into considera
i tion, this is a good time to advertise,
and it is a good time to buy’. In other
words. It is a good time to get the buy
er and seller together. “Prepare for
, war in times of peace." Take my word
for it, you can buy a whole lot better
i bird fur your money now than you can
