A Good Time to Buy Stocky Good Time
to Seil Stock
According to the natural trend vtf events the best trade in
i stock comes .just at the beginning of the breeding season. The
reason for this is apparent. The purchaser
puts off the getting of stock until the very last
moment, as a rule. The seller waits to do his
heaviest advertising until that time. The result
is the trade is all bunched into a few weeks’
time. Is this a good plan for all parties con
cerned? We think not. At such a time every
thing is done with a rush, and we all know
that when things are attendee} to in thar sort of
away that the best results can not be attained.
Stock' is not selected with the care that the case
demands. -Mistakes are made in many ways.
Orders are sometimes swapped, and have to
be returned, causing extra expense and delay.
The purchaser does not have time to study and
consider his matings as he should, because ho
is in a hurry to get his pens mated and to
■ work. If a male bird fails to fertilize the eggs
it causes a great inconvenience to have to wait at such a busy
' season for one to be ordered from a distance. Stock should be
in their yards weeks before they
i are expected to produce eggs for
hatching, in order that they may!
become thoroughly satisfied with ■
their surroundings.
Not all of these things can be accom- I
nlished if the buying is deferred to the •
last minute. Taking all these things l
into consideration, both on the side oft
the buyer and the seller, the fall of the i
year is a most propitious time to do i
business. If 1 were in the market for .
Stock, either in the shape of a good I
male for Introducing new blood or as
beginner In the business wishing to
slock up entirely, I would be skirmish- '
Ing around right now for what I want- ,
ed. I would not let up until I had
found what I wanted. I would get ,
them home and yarded to suit me. 1
When they had laid a few eggs 1 would i
set a clutch of them and find out how
