Atlanta Women
Display New
Paris Modes
in Gowns
ATLANTA women this autumn
have worn some of the most
beautiful toilets ever seen at
social affairs in this city, which is
noted far and wide for the charm
ing costumes of the women. In
the trousseau of some of the brides
and of the debutantes of the sea
son are exquisite specimens of the
Paris ateliers. One of the loveliest
of’the evening gowns in the trous
seau of Miss Frances Nunnally, a
charming bride-elect, Is of palest
pink charmeuse, draped by clever
and artistic? French fingers into the
fashionable swirl effect, fastened
with tiny self-covered buttons at
the bottom, widening out toward
the hips and gathered into a girdle,
with a sash drawn through of pink
chiffon, the ends finished with tiny
hanfi-made pink chiffon roses. The
gown has a low corsage, with long
sleeves, which are finished in tiny
ruffles of finest ecru lace. A chic
day frock, worn by Miss Nunnally.,
at one of the affairs of the week
given in her honor, was of the new
dull blue shade of charmeuse, with
draperies of taupe chiffon, a color
motif possible only for the smartest
of costumes.
Miss Elizabeth Rawson has worn
some exquisite gowns at the many
complimentary affairs in her honor
the past several weeks. One of her
most beautiful evening gowns dis
plays the popular accordion-pleat
ed mode. Both skirt and corsage
are of accordion-pleated chiffon, in
pale bine, with drapery of blue
crystal, which is in tunic effect on
the skirt, and garnitures the low
cut bodice. A cerise sash gives
the contrasting color note so fa
vored by the French fashion mak
ers this season.
Debutantes Charmingly Gowned
In the trousseau of Miss Mary
Traylor, a slender blonde beauty
among the brides of the season, is
a lovely del blue charmeuse gown,
made with the fashionable drapery
around the feet, and the bouffant
draperies of chiffon around the
hips; low neck and short sleeves
outlined with soft laces. She wears
also a stunning day toilet of black
'velvet, with a blouse of white chis
son over black.
The debutantes who have been
tendered parties this week were
charmingly gowned. Miss Margaret
Hawkins wore, for her debut re
ception, a pale pink charmeuse
gown, with panels of cream lace on
corsage and skirt, and a border of
soft fur. Miss Hildreth Burton
Smith wore a becoming Paris gown
all in pastel shades, at her debut
party. White embroidered net.
the embroidery outlined with tiny
French roses in faintly tinted pink
and blue chiffon roses, veiled the
white taffeta foundation of the
gown, and a girdle of light blue,

ther carried out the pastel shades.
Miss Burton Smith has a lovely day
costume of apricot charmeuse, with
draperies of shadow lace, which
she wore at one of the week’s large
affairs.
Pretty Costumes x From Europe
Miss Marie Pappenheimer, a
piquant, brunette itebutante, wore
for her coming out party, a Paris
gown of white brocaded crepe, fin
nished with bands of ermine and
crystal garniture. Miss Mildred
Harman, another of the past week's
debutantes, wore at the dinner
dance given by Mr. and Mrs. Har
man Monday evening last a white
charmeuse evening costume. The
corsage was of soft white chiffon
overlaid with crystal and bordered
at the decollete neck and sleeves
with small French roses In pink.
The skirt of whate charmeuse
showed pannier-like draperies of
white chiffon, garlanded with the
small pink chiffon roses.
Miss Helen Pfior wore at her re
ception this week one of the pret
tiest of the costumes brought back
from the French capital by her this
summer—an amber satin gown
with draperies of spangled net, and
the color contrast of pale pink on
the corsage.
The younger set, represented by
these buds ajid brides-elect, have
usurped t|ie larger share of atten
tion at the affairs of the week, bui
the married contingent has also
displayed some exquisite costumes
this autumn. The fame of Atlanta
women as the best dressed in the
South will not be in danger of
