MAUDE ADAMS IN "PETER PAN”
BEGINS ENGAGEMENT TONIGHT
The company surrounding Maude
Adams was selected with a go<wl deal of
care and the result Is that the presenta
tion of "Peter Pan" is one of all-round
excellence. .Miss Adams practically de
voted the entire summer to the prepara
tions for the revival of ti e fairy play and
she passed upon the merits of many peo
ple before she finally felt satisfied that
she had a company that would do justice
to Barrie's work. One of the noticeable
things about the presentation is the ear
nestness with which its characters are In
terpreted. While "Peter Pan" is all de
lightful make-believe to those who wit
ness it, to the players it seems to be all
absolutely real. There is a great deal of
what is known as "business" in the piny
and it is all carried out with the utmost
perfection of detail. The production is a
heavy one, the tinal act showing three
changes of scene, concluding with that
exquisite picture of Peter tn his bouse in
the tree tops. Among those in the nu
merous company who will be seen in Miss
Adams’ support when the actress comes
to the Atlanta tonight are Robert Peyton
Cartel. Fred Tyler, Byron Silvers, Wal
lace Jackson. Dorothy Dunn. Margaret
Gordon and Marion Abbott.
Miss Adams plays a Friday extra mati
nee. She also plays a regular matinee
Saturday and will be seen each night.
Plenty of choice seats remain for i|ll per
formances. The curtain is at 8 p. m.
"THE HEART BREAKERS” IS
ATLANTA'S NEXT OFFERING
In “The Heart Breakers," which will
be seen at the Atlanta Monday and Tues
day next, many song successes abound.
Among those that are worthy of mention
are "Your Eyes. Your Smile and You,"
"My Honolulu Honey Lou. The Tale of
the Bashful Bumble Bee.” "If 1 Had a
Hundred Hearts,rhe Songs You Used
to Sing to the Girls You Used to Low"
and many others. The cast is headed by
George Damerel, who became famous
through the "Merry Widow" waltz. Seats
go on sale tomorrow.
“DETECTIVE KEEN" IS BEST
PLAYLET SEEN AT GRAND|
The prediction made by the Grand man- '
agement that the class of vaudeville that '
would be offered this week would set a
new pace for this class of entertainment
here, lias been made good with a rush.
There has not been a show that has
been even close to the one that is pack
ing the Grand at all performances.
“Detective Keen.” the playlet that Is
being presented by a company of Daniel
Frohman stars is the best sketch that has
been seen here in vaudeville. It is of in
tense interest from the opening to the
close of the offering
Eddie ILeonard furnishes mbre genuine
comedy than has been released from the
Grand stage this season and the wonder
of the work of the Japanese acrobats who
close the show is without a doubt the
best that has been presented.
For Thanksgiving week the Grand is
going to make the pace faster than ever.
Some quality headliners are on the bill
and the features are the sort that keep
Broadway theaters busy. The star act
will be Tom Nawn and company in a
clever Irish comedy specialt\ Nawn is
one of the greatest of the character com
edians of vaudeville Kat< Elinor©, tin
funniest woman in vaudeville, and her
partner. Sam Williams, will be another of
the star acts and a big feature will be
Juliet, who was the star attraction at
Morris’ American music hall in New York
for an entire season.
EMMA BUNTING CONTINUES
TO BREAK FORSYTH RECORDS
Records at the Forsyth have been brok
en by Emma Bunting and the stock
players who are at that popular play
house for the winter
Every play that has been offered has
been met with a hearty response from
the theater-goers, but It was left to “’rhe
Two orphans” to win the attendance ‘
record. This beautiful old play is being
presented for the first time here in a good
many years. It is being presented better
than when last seen, and with such clever
people in the lending roles. Is adding to
Hie wonderful Bunting record.
Miss Bunting in the character of Lou
ise, the blind girl, has won the admira
tion of all her friends and added new fol
lowers to the army that supports her
For Thanksgiving week the bill will be
' Merely Mary Ann," the play that first
made a hit for Eleanor Robson.
MISS POYNTER WILL PRESENT
“LENA RIVERS” AT THE LYRIC
In response to a popular demand. Miss
Beulah Poynter will present at the Lyric
this afternoon and for the remainder of
the week her greatest success, "Lena
I livers.'' Miss Poynter's work in "A
Kentucky Romance,' which she has been
playing at the I.yric the first part of the
week, stamps her as an actress of charm
and skill. "Lena Rivers" has been seen
in Atlanta on more than one occasion, but
Miss Poynter lias made such a hit In the
role that it is impossible for her to be
come disassociated from it in the minds
of her Atlanta friends.
"SHEPHERD OF THE HILLS" IS
LYRIC BILL NEXT WEEK
"The Shepherd of the Hills” will be
seen at the Lyric next Monday. It is a
splendid story of real life among the
Ozark hills of Missouri and Arkansas, and
well worth seeing many times.
