i Thomasville Poultry Show
i
The poultry show just recently heli
'at Thomasville was a suev. ss in .-very
way. The weather was tine, the at
tendance good, but best of all. thele
I was a large and choice display of poul
! try—so much so that a large • tent was
i necessary to accommodate the cooping
■ It. wa< held, as usual, ill the great
i pine park in the very heart of the ci’y.
, To say th: t there w/ts quality would be
•putting it mildly. Indeed.
Take, lor example, W. H. Lester'S
I exhibit of White Rocks. They were
I crackerjacks iroin start to finish. His
i first prize pullet, also winner ofsweep
| stakes for the best bird In the show,
j was wne of the best 1 have seen in a
I long time. His first prize pen showed
quality all through, good enough to win
' sweepstak'-s for best pen in the show.
E. E. Maek, of Thomasville, made a
tegular killing with his White Wyan
dottes and Huff Orpingtons, as will be
noted from the awards. Besides all hi
winnings in the regular classes, he was
fortunate enough to get three of th
sweepstakes prizes, viz. best hen in .
tile show, best cockerel in the show ai.-
the whitest bird in the show, il! on Ills!
White. Wyandottes. This is nothing I
unusual for Mack, for lie won a lot of j
sweepstakes and regular prizes at both;
Atlanta and Augusta last year H<
not inak" these shows this yea.
In the Rhode Island Re I
honors were pr ‘tty well divided be
tween W. W. Nesbitt and B. 1’ Cren
shaw, both of Bainbridge, Oa. These
breeders of Reds ar certalnlj
right track from the rich color,; bi.us
they were showing.
In Whitt Orpingtons W. N. Single-p
tary showed stock that was simp y 1
beautiful to behold, not only to the , as- '
ual observer, but the experienced eye
as well. They showed uniformity and
i careful breeding. We wish w had the
I space to mention each and every one.
Taking it up one -Ide and down the
other, the Thomasville show was ai;
splendid success and a long step In ad-i.
vunee for the poultry business In that i
section. We trust that they will con- j
tinue to improve in the future as they I
have in the past.
