MISS EMILY CASSIN. a debu
tante. was formally presented to
society this afternoon at a large
reception given by her grandmother.
Mrs. George Hillyer. at the Hillyer res
idence on West Peachtree street, when
several hundred friends were enter
tained. The house was elaborately dec
orated with palms, ferns and Southern
smllax, and the front piazza was in
closed it) canvas and converted into a
summer parlor, with palms, bay trees
and foliage plants.
Mrs. Hillyer, Miss. Cassin. Miss Belle
Carter, of Columbus, the house guest of
Miss Cassin; Miss Etta Putnam and
Miss <'assin’s mother, Mrs. .1. D. Cro
mer. received the guests in the long
living room, standing before a bank of
handsome ferns. The tall mantel was
banked in small fems, starred with
white tapers in crystal candelabra, and
on either side of the debutante were
the many gorgeous bouquets sent her
t>y friends. Vases ot’ yellow and white
chrysanthemums were placed on cabi
nets and tables, and palms were group
ed throughout the apartment.
In the dining room, where refresh
ments were served, the decorations
were of yellow and white chrysanthe
mums, with unshaded white tapers.
Mrs. Jacob Patterson presided over the
coffee table. Punch was served at two
tables, one placed in the sun parlor and
one on the piazza. The tables were
wreathed in smllax and garlanded with
fruits.
Misses Frances Connally and Lula
Dean Jones presided over one table,
and Misses Ellen Wolff and Anne Pat
terson over the other An orchestra
played during the calling hours.
Mrs. Hillyer was very handsome in a
gow’n of rose-colored charmeuse satin,
with overdress of black Chantilly lace.
Miss Cassin, who is a very pretty and
charming young woman, was lovely in
a gown of white satin, draped in white
chiffon cloth. The skirt was finished
witli a deep band of shadow lace, above
which were draperies of the chiffon
cloth. The corsage of lace was draped

WEDDINGS

Hall-Young.
The marriage of Miss Martha Hall,
of Ade], Ga., to Captain James Scott
ioung. Jr., of the Seventeenth infan
try, was solemnized today at 11 o'clock
at the home of the bride's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. F. H. Hall, in Adel.
Mr. R. G. Wilby, of Atlanta, the ;
bride's uncle, acted as best man, and I
the maid of honor was the bride's i
young sister. There were no other at- '
tendants. The ceremony was witness
ed only by members of the family con
nection and a few intimate friends, the
ceremonj being very quiet on account
of a recent bereavement in the family
of the bride.
A traveling costume of dark blue chif
fon broadcloth was worn by the bride,
a blouse of blue chiffon and lace, and a
hat of seal, trimmed in a cluster of
leather roses completing the toilette.
The maid of honor wore white.
The apartments in which the wed
ding guests were entertained were dec
orated in white roses, ferns and palms.
The bride carried white roses.
Captain Young and his bride went
East on their wedding trip. They will
be away until the first of the New
Year, and will spend Christmas with
the bridegroom’s parents in Pittsburg.
The pretty bride is well known here,
whore she spent her college life at
Agnes' Scott, and has often been the
guest of her aunt, Mrs. R. G. Wilby.

from the city and the army contingent
awaits the bride upon her return.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Capitol Hive No. 1, Ladies of the
Maccabees, will hold a rummage sale
tomorrow and Saturday at 130 Capitol
avenue. Members having donations

3740 and the articles will be sent for.
A sale of home-made cakes will be
held tomorrow and Saturday at the Sa
cred Heart church bazaar at 165
Peachtree street. The Marist college
orchestra will play each evening from
7 to 9 o’clock.
At the bazaar restaurant at 168
Peachtree street, a delicious fish dinner
will be served tomorrow, "Sacred Heart
day," an’d a large patronage is expect
ed. Mrs. Henry Salmon and Mrs. W.
F. Spalding will be chairmen of the
day.
Mrs. Joseph Bowen is general chair
man of the bazaar.
The Inman Park Girls club will have
its regular monthly meeting tomorrow
morning at 10 o’clock at the home of
Mrs. S. C. Dobbs; 103 Elizabeth street.

Mrs. Cromer wore rose-colored chif
fon over w'hite satin, with an embroid
er yof crystals, and carried a bouquet of
pink roses.
Mrs. Bernard Wolff wore flowered
chiffon ovet cream-colored satin with
iridescent embroidery.
Mrs. Alfred Newell was gowned in
yellow charmeuse satin, with overdress
of iridescent embroidery.
