2 GOVERNOR AGAIN REFUSES TO RESPITE Continued From Page One. a commission is to be named. I have been unable to make such a showing. "Not a single jailer or jail attache or any person acquainted with the man’s condition since lie has been incar cerated was willing to sign an affidavit expressing the belief that lie is insane. I went to the governor without'a case because the doctors have maintained persistently that Clay was sound of mind and declared that he was a dam ning insanity.” Attorney Smith is consistent in his belief that the prisoner Is of unsound mind and has been so since the night he went to the little cottage in Lee street and shot his wife to death. Clay’s indifferent demeanor this morning, when he was moved Into the death cell, last occupied by George Burge, a wife slayer, who paid for his crime on the gallows a year ago, strengthens his lawyer's belief that the man is insane. When Clay was told that he occupied the ceil last used to house George Burge, he made no sign. If he heard tiie jail attaches In the gallows room busy with preparations he gave no sign. Except to light another cigarette and smoke It slowly, he did not stir during the morning. Sheriff Mangum announced today that the execution would be conducted in private in strict compliance with the law. No person, excepting the author ities, will be permitted to witness Clay’s death. The sheriff said that he had received hundreds of requests from morbidly curious persons to see the ex ecution. but no admission tickets would be issued. Detectives and Doctors t Work along similar, lines. One seeks the thief who steals money <>r val uables; the other is after the thing that steals health. Every doctor knows that the insidious, subtle drug, caffeine, in cuffee and tea “gets away” with valuables that money can not buy—clear brain, steady nerves, regular heart action, sound sleep, etc. That is why they often advise patients to quit coffee and tea. For more than 17 rears POSTUM has been helping doctors put “coffee wrecks” on their feet. Made of clean, hard wheat, Postum is a true food-drink. It contains no caffeine or other harmful substance; lint does contain the Phosphate of Potash (grown in the wheat) required by Nature in rebuilding brain and nerve cells. And now comes the new INSTANT POSTUM Made in the cup No boiling required Some say it has improved flavour, but it is regular Postum in concentrated form— nothing added. Simply put a level teaspoonful (more or less for strength desired) in a cup of hot water. Stir until dissolved; then add sugar to taste and enough cream to bring the color to golden brown. SECRET WORKER The Plan Upon Which Coffee Works, Coffee is such a secret worker that It Is not suspected as the cause of sick ness or disease, but there is a very su ' way to find out the truth. A lady in Memphis gives an inter.-s - Ing experience her husband had with coffee. It seems that he had been using it for some time and was an invalid. The physician in charge shrewdly suspected that coffee was the "Worm at the root of the tree,” and ordered it discontinued v. Ith instructions to us. Postum regularly in its place. The wife says: “We found that was the true remedy for his stomach and heart trouble and we would have gladly paid a hundred times the amount of the doctor's charge when we found how wise his judgment was. "The use of Postum instead of coffee was begun about a year ago, and it has made my husband a strong, well mar. He has gained thirty-five pounds in that time and his stomach and heart trouble have all disappeared. "We never tire of telling our friends of the benefit we have received front leaving off coffed and using Postum in its place.” Name given by Postum Co., Battle Creek, Mich.
