Miss Coates Weds
Mr. Barnes of
Macon
Miss Sarah Coates and Mr. Robert I
Baines, of Maeon, were married at the:
home of the brid>'s mother, Mrs. George .
W. Coates, last evening, at h:3O o'clock,
a reception tollowing the marriage.
The drawing room was the scene ot
the < eremony, the bridal couple and ;
tlmir attendants standing before a bank |
of ptdms. Hanked by tall vases of Eas- >
ter lilies Smllax and palms were used I
with effect, in further decorating this I
apartment, with vases of the Easter I
lilies. The reception hall was deco- i
rated in American Beauty roses and j
narcissi, with a wealth of greenery. ;
and in the dining room, where a buffet j
supper was served, Killarney roses were :
used in doeoration.
The bridal group included Miss Jen- ■
nie I). Harris, as maid of honor; Misses ;
Helen Barnes, of Maeon. and Helen
Prior, bridesmaids; Mr. Emmett Barnes,
Jr., of Macon, best man, ami Messrs
Elynn Nisbet anS Randolph Jaques, of
Maeon, groomstm n. Rev. A. T. Spald
ing officiated.
The bride, who is one of Atlanta's
prettiest young women, wore a wed- I
ding gown of white charmeuse satin,
draped in princess lace and caught with
pearl ornaments. Her tulle veil, which
fell over the long court train of satin,
was arranged with natural orange blos
soms. ami she carried a shower bouquet
of white ro:<'.v and lilies qf the valley.
The maid of honor wore' a silver etn
broid'-ie.l white ihiffon gown over white
satin, ami carried Killarney roses and'
vullej Hiles. The bridesmaids wore
pink vitlffon . and channelise evening
gowns, their Howers also. Killarney I
roses and valley lilies.
Mrs. Coates, the bride’s mother, wore |
a draped costume of white crepe, with
a corsage bouquet of Varma violets.
Mrs. Emmett Barnes of Macon, the
bridegroom’s mother, wore white char
meuse with overdress of black thread
luce.
Mrs. Coates was assisted in enter
taining by Mr. and Airs. Emmett Barnes.
Misses Gladys Miller and Mary Murphy
presided at the punch bowl.
The tabic from which the ices and
confections were served h#d as a cen
terpiece a basket of the pink roses,
whiclt was surrounded by silver cande
labra shaded in pink and silver bonbon
dishes holding pink caudles. The beau
tifully embossed bride's cake also
atiorned the table.
The young couple left for a bridal
journey after the reception. They will
be at home In Macon, Ga., after Jan
uary I.
The young bride will be cordially wel
comed in her new home, where she has
oDvu visited and hits many relatives,
she is related to the Burdens of that
city, and formerly lived in Macon. Mr,
Barnes is a prominent young man of
Macon, with a large circle of friends.
Among the out-of-town guests for the
wedding la t evening were several Ma-,
eon friends.
Informal Dinner-Dance.
A dinner-dance at the Capital City
club was given by Mr. M. C. Donnell
last evening, his guests including a
number of Atlanta friends in both the
married and the contingent.
The HO guests weye seated at small
tallies for dinner in the ladies case,
which had holiday decorations of holly,
mistletoe, smllax and palms. Poin
settia and narcissi fillorl the central
vases on the tables, and rod tupors in
sliver candelabra and red mints in sil
ver dishes emphasized the color motif.
Dancing in the ball room followed the
dinner party.
The chaperons wore Judge and Mrs.
Spencer Atkinson. Mr. and Mrs. ,1. J.
Spalding. Dr. am! Mrs. <’harlcs Rem
sen, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Morgan,
Mr. and Mrs. J. Edgar Hunnicutt, Judge

of their guest. Mrs. MerTwether Lewie,

The handsomely appointed table was
decorated tn pink roses, arranged in a
basket, with garlands of asparagus fern.
