CHRISTMAS RECEPTION

Tabernacle Baptist church. Plans for i

The first reception, for the entire ’

event. Admission to the event will be
one Irish potato, dropped into a barrel 1
at the door. The potatoes will be given '

more nations, represented by different '
I departments of the Sunday school; a ,
| Christmas cantata, sung by a trained
chorus of one hundred voices, and sev
eral pantomimes and tableaux will be
features of the entertainment. |
The beginners class of the primary
department of the Sunday school will
entertain at 4 o’clock next Thursday
afternoon. Tlio primary department
will entertain Friday evening at 7 i
o’clock and will have a big Christmas
tree.
SECOND FIRE IN ONE DAY
SWEEPS HARTWELL BLOCK
HARTWELL. GA.. Dec. 19.—-An
alarm of fire at 11 o'clock last night
aroused Hartwell to witness the second
disastrous conflagration in the same
day in the same block. The brick build
ing owned by J. D. Matheson and oc
i eupied by T. J. Cunningham & Co. was
' destroyed. Two horses, one mule and
other valuable property were burned.
| D. N. Elrod's store also was damag'd
heavily.
On November 24 T. J. Cunningham
& Co. sustained a heavy loss through
a fire in the same block, which con
sumed their stablefl and r eight horses.

40 CANDIDATES SEEKING
OFFICES IN NEW COUNTY
Ai.AMO, GA., Dec. 19.—The Democratic
executive committee of the new county of
Wheeler has prepared the ticket for the
new county officers to be voted on at the
primary to be held on December 3. There
are exactly 40 candidates for the various
offices—three for ordinary, three for
clerk, seven for sheriff, five for tax col
lector, six for tax receiver, four for treas
urer. two for surveyor, offe for coroner
and nine for county commissioner, with
three to be elected.
