SLAYER OF SON FREED UNDER BOND OF SIO,OOO DALTWN, GA., Dec. 20.—“Vncle Bob" Davis, the aged Confederate veteran who on .Monday, December 9, shot and killed his son. Hewlett Davis, has ob tained his liberty, making the SIO,OOO bond set by Judge A. W. Fite. In tin- habeas corpus proceedings held before Judge Fite at Cartersville, ' Judge Glenn, representing Davis, told of the old man's broken health, and succeeded in getting him admitted to ball, the amount being placed at SIO,OOO. None of the relatives fought the effort to gain his freedom. This means that there will be no ex tra session of the grand jury in Jan uary, the investigation going over to the regular session in April.
