WITH the beginning of the holi
days for rhe school set. there
are many parties planned for
all ages, from the little tots to the girls
who are already planning for their
coming-out winter.
Several are on for today, one of the
largest of these being Mrs. William A.
Parker’s reception for her young daugh
ter, Miss Louise Parker, and the house
guest of Miss Parker, Miss Minnie Hall,
of Columbus, the two being class mates
at school in Washington. D. C., this
winter. The guests included 100 mem
bers of the school girl set. Palms, ferns
and smilax with vases of pink roses
and white hyacinths formed the decora
tions throughout the house.
The table had for a centerpiece a
vase of pink roses and white hyacinths
surrounded by pink-shaded tapers and
pink mints. The ices and cakes were
pink and white. Misses Katherine ajjd
Graham Lambert presided over the
punch table in the library.
Miss Parker wore rose-colored satin
bordered in ermine and trimmed in lace.
Miss Hall wore white satin and lace.
Mrs. Parker’s gown was of white char
treuse satin veiled in black chiffon em
broidered in blue.
Assisting in entertaining were Misses
Susie Hatcher of Columbus, Nina Car
penter of Greenville, S. C.; Mamie
Kirkpatrick, Mary King, Ruth Paden,
Wyckliffe Wurm, Helen Rhorer, Myra
Clarke Scott, Ida Winship, Lillian
Mitchell, Mary Murphy, Katherine Du-
Bose, Harriet Haynes. Marcella Hall
man, Ellen Wolff, Dorothy Traynham,
Faith Johnson, Lhcy Roberts, Margue
rite Ward Grace LeCraw, Gladys Dun
son and Ruth Reid.
Mrs. Murray Entertains.
The three parties given this week by
Mrs. John P. Murray were her first
since occupying her new residence at
605 West Peachtree street.
Elaborate holiday decorations
adorned the attractive apartments open
to guests. Sbuthern smilax wreathed
the windows and door arches, palms
and ferns were banked in the corners
and Christmas wreaths and red bells,
with vases of red carnations, gave the
color contrast.
The first of the series was a morning
auction bridge party, the game being
followed by a hot luncheon served in
several courses. There were top score
prizes of hand-painted plates for each
of the three tables, the winners being
Airs. J. O. Palmer, Mrs. Wiley Jones
and Mrs. J. H. Bradfield.
At each of the two afternoon parties
twelve guests were entertained, the
prizes for Thursday afternoon being an
embroidered guest towel for top score,
won by Miss Kate Ransom, and a deck
of handsome cards for consolation, won
by Mrs. Glover U. Else.
Yesterday afternoon, when the last
of the series was given, Mrs. Murray
was a charming hostess, wearing a
gown of black velvet trimmed in gold
lace. The prizes for yesterday were
silk hose for top score, won by Mrs.
Sidney Johnson, and a Christmas work
bag of /ed satin, which as a consola
tion prize went to Mrs. Amanda Eaton.
Christmas House Party.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thornton, who
have been spending two weeks at the
Hotel Knickerbocker, New York, since
their marriage, are now in Asheville,
N. C., where they Will spend the holi
days with Air. and Mrs. Austell Thorn
ton at their home on Vittoria road.
Mrs. A. E. Thornton and Miss Jane
Thornton leave tonight and will also be
the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Austell
Thornton until after the holidays.

Miss Muse’s Dinner Party,
A miniature Christmas tree, light
ed with tiny vari-colored tapers and
hung with gifts, formed the centerpiece
for the table at a dinner party giver.
Thursday evening by .Miss Caroline
Muse. The place cards bore frosted
Christmas scenes. Covers were laid for
twelve at a handsomely appointed ta
ble.

The Yuletide was typified in the elab
orate decorations of the party given
this afternoon by Mrs. Lena Swift
Huntley, for 24 little girls, entertained
in honor of Miss Elizabeth Buchanan,
the grandaughter of the hostess.
The handsome home of Airs. Huntley
on Peachtree road was elaborately dec
orated for the party. In the hall a
Christmas tree, reaching to the celling,
was strung with tiny electric lights,
and hung with toys and ornaments.
Vases of red roses adorned the living
room and other apartments. Games
were played, the winner receiving a
large Christmas stocking full of gifts.
Later the guests were seated for re
freshments at a large oblong table in
the dining room, representing a field of
snow, with Santa Claus and his sleigh
at the foot of a miniature Christmas
tree, which formed the centerpiece. As
souvenirs at each plate were miniature
Christmas trees, with red horns and
poppers. Red candy balls adorned the
table.
Little Miss Buchanan wore white lin
gerie and was assisted in entertaining
by the members of the family.
Buffet Supper Party,
A buffet supper was given last even
ing by Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Wiinbish in
honor of Mrs. William Donnell and Miss
Virginia Donnell, who are spending the
holidays with Mr. Al. C. Donnell. The
apartments open to guests were deco
rated in poinsettia, garlands of holly
and mistletoe, in the dining room the
table was decorated in poinsettia blos
soms and Easter Hiles, sin-foumh il by
smaller vases of red narcissi and ear
nations, with red shaded tapers. An
orchestra played during the evening.
Mrs. Wimbish wore turquoise blue
satin with garniture of lace. Mrs. Don
nell was gowned in black velvet and
Miss Donnell wore cie! blue charmeusi
satin combined with chiffon and silver
luce.

Fancy Dress Ball
To Be Given

A costume ball is particularly ap
propriate to the holiday season, and foi
this reason the Nine o’clock German
luii make their second affair a fancy
dress ball. This will lie one of tile most
delightful affairs of next week, taking
place at the Piedmont Driving club on
next Friday evening, December 27.
There will be handsome prizes for the
most i-orfeet disguise and for the most
beautiful costumes. The young women
will wear some exquisite toilets, and
many of the men will be in costume,
others wearing dominoes. After the
unmasking, supper will be served in
the dining room of the club, and danc
ing will follow.
The married members of the club will
act as chaperons, as usual, and the de
butantes of this year and last will be
tin- specially honored guests of the
brilliant affair.
