Incubator Information
•ludgv Marshall—l wish to buy an incubator, and would be
glad of soni. advice about whal kind to get. and how to manage (
incubator and chicks.
Very respectfully.
Dublin, Ga. .MRS. S. E. M.
Reply—To go in to details and cover the
ground thoroughly on this subject would n
quire more space than w« command at this time.
« First, there are a good many makes of good in
cubators which if properly handled will give
better results on an average than the hens. An
| important feature in operating incubators is to
have a place for them where the changes in
temperature are not too great, and , specially
where it does not get 100 hoi.
An incubator will run better in a cool place.
A pit or cellar makes a good place. In the ab
sence of such, use a north or inside room m
j your house wlior- the sun does not strike.
Having located your machine, get it to run
I iug at least two days before you put any eggs
.ipto it. When it s well regulated, put the eggs in and let it
tjlone as Io regulation. Keep the .
Itunp well trimmed al all times.
•Ail machines shipped out have
complete directions as to operat
ing. turning the eggs. etc., ami
-these should I" closely followed.
