a watchman, tried to kill himself in the
office of the tailor shop of Harry Barono
wilz. on the third floor at 1331 South
Sangamon street, by turning on four gas
Jets and swallowing carbolic acid. He
pr. i ably will die. He left a note saying
he was tired of life.

wards Cre.-I, wife of Edwatd Creel, a
saf. blower whom the police are seek

to marry by Mrs. Susan Adams, a re
lorm work . connected with a school of
girls. M s. Cl eel said she had been at
a horn, conducted by Mrs. Adams and
had been sent to the Harrison street
station. She was taken back to the
home, she said, and Creel began paying
attention to her. She repulsed him and
was sent back to tile police station.

Mrs. Adams denied the story as ab
surd. She said she had tried to pre
vent the girl's marriage.

tile association. Eastman discovered
there were no entries in the M hite
Cochin class, for which a substantial
first prize was offered.
Also, he knew where he could buy a
specimen for sl, and made haste to get
the bird. He entered it. When the
premiums were awarded the $1 bird had
won first premium in the Wliite Coch
in class.

CHICAGO, Dee. 27.—Mayor Carter
H. Harrison is confined to his bed with
la grippe. His condition today was re
ported somewhat improved, but it was
said it would be at least three days be
fore he would be allowed to sit up.
