estimate. As some one has remarked, “Stop sin- I

Tin- seei l I of most sickness has been diseov

which develop ami sprout as it were " lien the eon

Tlie blood and tissues of the fowl are tin 1 gardens
of germs. You may have read about them as -MAJE-SHAXT
mu-robes bacteria, ferments, etc. We are told
that there are germs of health, or, rather, germs abounding in a
healthy organism, capable of destroying almost any antagonists or
disease germs that may appear. It
is essi-iitial that the average man
should know that stagnant pools,
• garbage heaps, impure air, damp
i houses and coops are all favorable
| lirceding places for the disease
germs and hostile to the health ot
j poultry.
The matter resolves itself into the
! question whether the poultryman shall
look well to all of the sanitary condi
tions surrounding his poultry and in
thii- doing pteveni nine-tenths of the
disease that might appear in the tloek

no contagious disease.
The same course should lie followed
in handling your own stock. If a siek
bird appears, take it away from the
rest of the thick to treat it, if you feel
disposed to doctor it. Do not put it
back until the traces of disease are
entirely banished. If it is badly af

Too close confinement in smalt

If It burns diml., and feebly, there

ventilation Is needed. This is more es
pecially a test for closed houses at
