To the long list of American heiresses who have purchased old family estates for their husbands must he added Mrs. Vin cent, who was a Miss Borne, of San Francisco, and whose husband comes from County- Limerick, Ireland. Mrs. Vincent has bought Muckross, a famous show place near Killarney, with 16,000 acres attached, and is spending thousands of dollars on the place. Are they terribly bad?” These and similar question to-day are agitating the women of the Dem ocratic party of Spokane, who were formally invited to attend the Jef ferson dinner to-night and then In formally told by Dr. D. C. Newman, president of the Thomas Jefferson Society, that they ' were not expect ed to accept the Invitations as 'rocky* stories were going to be told and wine and cigars served." The women are just as angry as they can be at Dr. Newman and they debated to-day whether they should go to the dinner in defiance of Dr. Newman's warning. Some were for it, others against it, the latter taking the position that the horrid men, piqued by the unwelcome presence of women, would tell "rocky" little yarns and neighbors of said ladies would have a nice chance for gossip. But they all admit they are "most awfully curious" about those “rocky" stories.
