WASHINGTON, April 22—The se- i,. e t committee appointed by the Hous eto-day began its Investigation io determine whether Charles C. Glover, the Washington banker, shall be punished for contempt of the House for attacking Representative Sims, of Tennessee, last Friday. The most interesting testimony was niven by Representative Ben John son, of Kentucky, who said Glover old him that he (Glover) regretted the laws did not permit dueling in •his country. •Glover told me,” testified Johnson, ihat if it were not for the laws he noula challenge Mr. Sims to a duel ,.u account of things Sims had said about him on the floor of the House." Representative Sitns testified that when he was accosted by Glover In I'arragut Square last week Glover had an insane expression in his eyes with a bluish color on the face.” Sims said he recalled only one blow, but that Glover might have struck him twice. Glover was not present, but sent a letter, the contents of which were withheld by the committee. It is understood that Glover makes a par tial apology to the House, saying that he acted without premeditation. Glover, however, is said to challenge the jurisdiction of The House to try Railroad Schedule. SOl IIIERN RAILWAY^ •’PREMIER CARRIER OF THE SOUTH- ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE OF PASSENGER TRAINS, ATLANTA.
