For Sunday Dinner
By ELBERT L. THORNTON.
The time to buy fresh vegetables and the Market Basket leaders
to reduce the cost of living—nothing the housewife can have on her
dinner table will please the family more than a nice fresh vegetable
dinner. #
The grocers who advertise in the Market Basket carry a nice line
of spring vegetables and receive them fresh daily. The present market
offers string beans, spinach, green cabbage, tomatoes, lettuce, radishes,
cucumbers, young onions, etc. Why not select some of the above veg
etables and give your family a spring noonday meal?
Below I will give you a vegetable dinner which you can have ai a
nominal cost:
Old-Fashioned Vegetable Soup.
C■ :< umbers. Radishes.
Boiled Salt Pork and String Beaus.
New Potatoes. Cream Spiced Beet ■
Georgia Corn Bread
Lettuce and Tomato Salad.
Green Apple Pie.
Buttermilk.
The advertisers give the readers this w eek some good p/u es mi
staple goods—flour, sugar, lard, meal. etc.—things you use in the kitchen
every day. You will profit bv cutting out this page and taking it
with you when marketing and take advantage of the low staple goods
