In Co-operation Poultrymen Save Time and Money Eggs Should Re Stamped and Guar anteed—Make Good All Shortage. Two or more poultrymen or farm ers interested in poultry can save many a dollar by co-operating so as to cut down expenses and facilitate the handling of their products and the buying of supplies. Perhaps no one of a party would get enough eggs to promptly till a case for shipment and have them fre.-h, while by two or three respon sible parties clubbing together for the purpose they may be able to fill and ship two or three cases a week, or one a day. according to circum stances. Let the one n\ost convenient to the station do the packing and shipping and receive for his services so many cents per crate, just enough to pay for the work really performed. By all means secure a special customer or customers for them—a consumer who knows the value of good, fresh, clean eggs anl is willing to pay extra for such quality, the producers guaran teeing such quality. Let each one who furnishes eggs for shipping have a rubber stamp, all alike except the number, each to have a number of his own on his stamp. The % stamps j may read something like this; “W’oocJ- ville Go-operating Poultry Company, No. 7,” the number representing the POULTRY, PET ard LIVE STOCK party who furnished the eggs bear ing that number and who would have to make good all his eggs reported bad beating that number. With the additional penalty that where a cer tain number of eggs from the pro ducer are reported per month that he be fined so many cents, to be de ducted from his returns, the object being, however, to get parties to the compact who will allow but few, if any. bad eggs to go to market, build ing up a splendid reputation for the best that can be secured or pro duced. Marketing of Broilers. The marketing of broilers can be carried on* in much the same man ner. In fact, let all the poultry and products produced by the members be marketed by a single concern. Grapes from the great grape belt of New York and Ohio are marketed in just this manner. In fact, most of the fruit grown in this country is handled that way, and there appears no good reason why poultry products should not follow suit. It would not only be advantageous in the way of seeing the profit, but In the buying of supplies as well, such as feeds of various kinds which are not produced on the place, together with Lh many accessories, such as beef meal, beef scraps, oyster shell, bone meal, grit and the many neces sary adjuncts to convenient and suc cessful poultry raising. This plan would be right handy to tlie small raiser in the vicinity who would like a bag of shells or beef sc raps who could not afford to send a long distance, perhaps, and pay heavy freight bills on small consignments. Fresh bone could be supplied certain days in the week by oile* of the number running a power grinder in which all had in vested money to create. TJfcre are some localities in the South where quite an association could be formeu and carried on suc cessfully. while there are many oth ers where it would not be practical to get more* than a littie firm of two or three who would join in whenever they wished to send off for supplies, it would be non • the lees profitable. Keep all ideas of graft out of such things and let them be co-workers for the benefit of ail concerned. Peo ple are as a rule slow to take hold bf things Mke this, we know, but we see no valid reason why so plain a propo sition as you help me and 1 will help you should not be readily accepted.
