Heal Estate Agency, to a client of
that agency, a block of stores at 123-
I ’29 Decatur Street, for $125,000.
This property is located between
1 Uourtland Street and Piedmont Ave
nue, and the building is three stories
high. Ir is leased for several years
at $7,800 a year.
The name of the buyer was with-
! held.
Whitehall Street Grade.
Although some objection has been
encountered to the proposed change
of grade In Whitehall Street from
Mitchell to Forsyth Streets, property
; owners are hoping that this can be
overcome. Manufacturing concerns
are said to object on the ground that
ihe improvement would injure their
property, but those who favor the
work contend that this damage would
Ihe slight when compared with the
1 benefits. Charles H. Black outlined
the case yesterday and presented
waivers for damages. The committee
will meet again next Friday to con-
; tinue the discussion. Mr. Black stat-
ed that some big improvements are
contemplated with regrading. These
may not be made unless the work
: goes ahead.
M. L. Petty Again in Business.
Captain M. L. Petty, who so’d out
his real estate business the first of
the year with the intention of moving
I away to Albany, has decided to open
an office at 125 North Pryor Street,
where he will do a general real es
tate business. Captain Petty was
formerly with the firm of Grant &
Petty, and is one of the best-known
realty men in this city. He will deal
in farms as well as city property, and
of the former lie says:
”1 consider Southwest Georgia one
i of the best parts of the State for in
vestments at the present time. You
'can buy th e very best farm lands in
that , section for $10 to $50 an acre.
1 look for business all over the coun-
1 try to improve in a short time. 1
think Atlanta is the least disturbed
over tariff matters of any city in the
country.”
